The Role
As a Manufacturing Engineer, you'll optimize and design EV battery pack production processes, supporting operations and enhancing equipment capabilities while collaborating with cross-functional teams for improved yield and quality.
Summary Generated by Built In

You’ll be working with the Manufacturing Engineering team.

This team is responsible for designing, stabilising and continuously improving the production processes for EV battery packs and modules. The focus is on building highly reliable, scalable, automated and safe manufacturing systems that enable high-quality battery production at scale.

Our mission is to industrialise complex battery technologies into robust, efficient and repeatable manufacturing processes.

Our philosophy: Break. Believe. Build

Break stuff. Break assumptions. Break the thumb rule.

Believe in the team. Believe in the process. Believe through failures.

Build fast. Build passionately. Build to simplify.

What you will do

In this role, you will take ownership of process development, optimization and support for EV battery module and pack assembly lines. You will work closely with Product, Quality, Automation, Maintenance and Supplier partners to ensure smooth production, high yield and continuous capability improvement.

You will play a key role in new product industrialization, line stabilization, equipment capability enhancement and problem resolution on the shop floor.

Requirements

• Support day-to-day manufacturing operations for EV battery module and pack assembly lines
• Own and optimize critical processes such as:
– Laser welding (bus-bar and tab welding)
– Resistance welding
– 1K and 2K dispensing
– Torque-controlled fastening and screw driving
– Cell alignment, stacking and compression
– Potting, insulation and sealing operations

• Troubleshoot complex mechanical, electrical and process-related issues on the line
• Perform root cause analysis using 5-Why, Fish-bone and DOE, and implement CAPA
• Support NPI (New Product Introduction), pilot builds, engineering trials and validation builds
• Create and maintain SOPs, PFMEA, Control Plans, Work Instructions and process documentation
• Evaluate manufacturability of new designs and provide DFM/DFA feedback to design teams
• Assist in installation, commissioning, FAT/SAT and capability studies of new equipment
• Drive continuous improvement in cycle time, yield, quality and equipment uptime

Automation & Robotics

• Program and optimize industrial robots (Mitsubishi / FANUC / KUKA or similar) for:
• Configure EOAT, safety interlocks, motion paths and cycle time optimization

• Troubleshoot and modify PLC logic on Siemens, Allen Bradley, Mitsubishi or equivalent platforms
• Update HMI, safety logic, interlocks and control sequences
• Work with communication protocols such as Profinet, Ethernet/IP, Modbus and OPC-UA
• Contribute to concept design and development of custom automation and fixtures
• Define functional requirements, technical specifications and acceptance criteria
• Collaborate with machine suppliers on design reviews, FAT, SAT, commissioning and ramp-up
• Ensure equipment meets accuracy, repeatability, safety and process capability requirements

The ideal candidate requires

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Mechatronics, Manufacturing or related engineering field
• 4–6 years of experience in EV battery pack/module manufacturing or high-precision automation
• Experience supporting automated production lines and complex equipment
• Strong troubleshooting skills across mechanical, electrical and process domains
• Hands-on experience in NPI, process validation and ramp-up activities
• Familiarity with PFMEA, Control Plans and process documentation
• Working knowledge of quality tools (5-Why, Fishbone, DOE)
• Strong communication and cross-functional collaboration skills

What matters

• Strong ownership and accountability
• Structured and data-driven mindset
• Ability to solve problems under pressure
• High bias for action and execution
• Continuous improvement mindset
• Ability to work cross-functionally in a fast-paced environment
