Principal Objective of Position:                                                                                                     

The Manufacturing Engineer develops and implements optimal, cost-effective manufacturing processes and methods in accordance with product specifications and quality standards; recommends and implements improvements to production processes, methods and controls; coordinates manufacturing launch for new or revised products.


Essential Functions:

  • Carries out process improvement, problem resolution, project management and employee training.
  • Improves manufacturing processes and methods for cost-reduction, quality improvement and efficiency.
  • Performs research, design and development of manufacturing processes including production flow, assembly methods and production equipment.
  • Prepares and maintains detailed layouts of buildings and equipment
  • Coordinates the manufacturing launch of new/revised products including establishing goals, training team members and evaluating results.
  • Designs, develops and tests and/or sources and cost-justifies various tools, machinery and equipment for recommended manufacturing methods
  • Performs product/process analysis for cost reduction, quality improvement, and improved efficiency.
  • Represents manufacturing on cross-functional teams.
  • Responsible for the development of engineering masters/manufacturing instructions using manufacturing engineering practices.
  • Prepare quotations for labor, tooling and equipment to support the business unit requirements.
  • Participate in concurrent engineering design reviews.
  • Evaluate and approve drawings, routings/MI’s, specs and other documents.
  • Design and procure tools/equipment.
  • Write appropriation requests.
  • Evaluate and solve production problems.
  • Train assemblers or conduct training to introduce new processes.
  • Prepare/manufacture prototypes as required utilizing the principals of concurrent engineering.
  • Education and Experience Required:                                                                                           

  • Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering, mechanical engineering technology, or related field
  • Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Required:                                                                                  

  • Background in AM TPM and lean manufacturing.
  • Excellent math skills.
  • Good computer skills including Outlook, Word and Excel, prefer experience with Dynamics AX.
  • Must have the ability to effectively communicate by written and verbal.
  • Ability to work in a team environment or independently with little or no supervision.
  • Use of good judgment and decision making skills.
  • Ability to multitask.
  • Must be able to manage time.
  • Must have adaptability/flexibility.
  • Accuracy with a strong attention to detail.
Qualifications

 

Preferred Qualifications:                                                                                                                 

  • Minimum of five years’ experience in manufacturing.
  • Experience working with aluminum, and with bending, stamping, forming and punching metals.

Skills Required

  • Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering, mechanical engineering technology, or related field
  • Background in AM, TPM and lean manufacturing
  • Excellent math skills
  • Good computer skills including Outlook, Word and Excel
