Job Description:

Works on manufacturing improvement projects where analysis of processes, production data, workflows, and operational performance requires the application of engineering judgment and problem-solving techniques. Exercises judgment within established procedures and practices to determine appropriate actions and drive operational excellence initiatives.

This role is primarily focused on process optimization, manufacturing efficiency improvements, layout design, capacity analysis, waste reduction, and continuous improvement activities across multiple Value Streams. The position works closely with Operations, Quality, Engineering, and Production teams to identify opportunities and implement sustainable improvements that enhance operational performance.

Demonstrates full use and application of engineering principles, continuous improvement methodologies, and manufacturing best practices. Provides technical leadership through influence and collaboration while supporting broad and complex manufacturing initiatives.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Responsible for ensuring personal and company compliance with local and company regulations, policies, and procedures for Health, Safety, and Environmental compliance.

  • Properly document activities in accordance with engineering best practices, company procedures, and regulatory requirements.

  • Work with R&D, Design, Development, Transfer Engineers, and Operations teams to understand products and manufacturing processes.

  • Responsible for cost-effective manufacturing operations through the management of yield, material utilization, and process efficiency.

  • Conduct root cause investigations and implement corrective actions.

  • Lead manufacturing process optimization initiatives focused on improving productivity, efficiency, quality, and throughput.

  • Develop and implement standard manufacturing methods and continuous improvement projects.

  • Conduct engineering studies to optimize manufacturing operations, including:

    • Time studies

    • Motion studies

    • Capacity analysis

    • Workflow improvements

    • Process flow optimization

    • Line balancing

  • Conduct and document time studies to establish performance standards.

  • Execute cost analysis activities involving labor, materials, and manufacturing burden.

  • Analyze and implement improvements to reduce operating costs and eliminate waste.

  • Design, evaluate, and implement production layouts to improve manufacturing flow and operational efficiency.

  • Develop, implement, and monitor manufacturing process controls and equipment improvements.

  • Independently perform assignments while working toward defined project objectives and deliverables.

  • Participate in the design and development of manufacturing equipment, tools, and fixtures.

  • Participate in design reviews and pre-validation assessments to support successful implementation of new manufacturing processes.

  • Set up and validate production lines as required.

  • Lead and support product transfers and new product introduction activities.

  • Collaborate across multiple Value Streams and functional areas to implement operational improvement initiatives.

  • Build effective working relationships with customers, suppliers, and internal stakeholders.

  • Investigate, respond to, and support the resolution of quality issues when required.

  • Support pilot projects focused on operational excellence and manufacturing transformation initiatives.

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering required.

  • Industrial Engineering is highly preferred.

  • Mechanical Engineering, Materials Engineering, or other engineering disciplines may be considered if supported by relevant manufacturing improvement experience.

  • Minimum 4-5 years of related engineering experience.

  • Medical Device industry experience is highly desirable.

  • Demonstrated experience in:

    • Process optimization

    • Layout improvements

    • Production efficiency initiatives

    • Line balancing

    • Time and motion studies

    • Capacity analysis

    • Waste reduction projects

  • Strong computer skills, including:

    • Microsoft Excel

    • Microsoft PowerPoint

    • Microsoft Word

    • Data analysis tools

  • Strong English communication skills, both written and verbal is a must. The position requires participation in meetings and collaboration with international stakeholders.
