Albany Engineered Composites (AEC) designs, develops, and manufactures advanced composite components in order to help our customers push the frontiers of innovation.  Our core strength is our ability to produce highly tailored, complex composite components. With our unique blend of products – including 3D woven structures, traditional and non-traditional 2D composite structures, and discrete through thickness reinforcement technologies, to name a few – AEC is able to produce composite components and products which meet performance and cost specifications often beyond the reach of metallic or conventional laminated composites. 

 

The Manufacturing Engineer designs and plans layout for activities such as layup, cure, machining, bonding, painting, and assembly of composite materials and structures. Adapts machine or equipment design to factory and production conditions. Plans for the arrangement of machines within plant facilities to ensure most efficient and productive layout. Plans sequence of operations and specifies procedures for the fabrication of tools and equipment and other functions that affect product performance. May incorporate inspection and test requirements into the production plan. 

 

Primary Responsibilities:  

  • Complete understanding and wide application of technical principle, theories, and concepts in the composites materials and processing field 
  • General knowledge of other related disciplines
  • Provides technical solutions to a wide range of difficult problems. Solutions are imaginative, thorough, practicable and consistent with organization objectives  
  • Works under only general direction, independently determines and develops approach to solutions 
  • Contributes to the completion of specific programs and projects  
  • Performs Root Cause and Corrective Action / Nonconformance Disposition (MRB) 
Preferred Qualifications
  • BS in designated Engineering or related field with 5+ years of relevant experience  

 

 

 

Preferred Additional Skills:  

  • DMAIC, DFSS, LEAN, PFMEA, Control Plans, SPC, Mistake Proofing, DOE, DFx
  • Work in a production and assembly environment
  • Experience with Automated Fiber Placement
  • Ultrasonic Inspection
  • Composite tooling and tool design
  • Machine shop environment (Composite Machining)
  • New Product Development / New Business Development 
  • Shop Planning Generation (MS Word Products, etc) 
  • Working in / Leading a multi-disciplined team 
  • GD&T 
  • CATIA V5 
  • Green Belt Certified a plus 
  • Experience in Windchill, and SAP a plus  
  • Aerospace manufacturing a plus
