RFA Engineering (www.rfamec.com) is an engineering service provider dedicated to delivering our clients with timely engineering support and expertise.  We are seeking an Entry to Experienced Level candidate to become an integral part of our engineering team.  The selected candidate will work with an experienced engineering staff using state-of-the-art engineering tools & processes. This position will operate onsite at our customer's world-class engineering and manufacturing facility.

Manufacturing Engineer

The selected candidate will apply engineering principles and manufacturing best practices to improve production processes, facility layouts, and operational efficiency. This role involves analyzing manufacturing methods, developing process improvements, and supporting the implementation of cost-effective production solutions. The ideal candidate will be proficient in creating engineering drawings, interpreting technical specifications and blueprints, and collaborating with cross-functional teams to optimize product quality, manufacturability, and production performance.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct time studies, motion studies, and workflow analyses to evaluate manufacturing, maintenance, and production operations, establishing standard labor times and identifying opportunities to improve efficiency, productivity, and cost performance.
  • Interpret engineering drawings, blueprints, schematics, specifications, and technical documentation while collaborating with engineering and production teams to establish manufacturing processes, quality standards, and reliability requirements.

  • Review production records, operator logs, process documentation, and inspection reports to ensure compliance with quality standards, operating procedures, and customer requirements.

  • Support production planning activities by evaluating workforce capabilities, equipment capacity, manufacturing constraints, and production schedules to optimize resource utilization and minimize downtime.

  • Develop and maintain process documentation, including workflow diagrams, plant layouts, value stream maps, routing plans, and material flow analyses to improve operational efficiency and support continuous improvement initiatives.

  • Observe manufacturing operations and equipment performance to verify compliance with safety, quality, maintenance, and process standards while identifying opportunities for process optimization.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in mechanical, industrial, manufacturing, or similar engineering degree required.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills with the ability to identify process inefficiencies, evaluate alternatives, and implement effective manufacturing solutions.

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to effectively present technical information, collaborate with cross-functional teams, and communicate findings to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.

  • Demonstrated creativity and innovation in developing process improvements, manufacturing methods, tooling concepts, and productivity enhancements.

  • Detail-oriented team player capable of managing multiple priorities while maintaining accuracy, quality, and project timelines in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.

  • Ability to create sketches, engineering drawings, layouts, and perform engineering calculations to support manufacturing processes, tooling design, and production improvements.

  • Proficiency in reading and interpreting blueprints, GD&T, technical drawings, schematics, specifications, and engineering documentation.

  • Experience utilizing CAD software such as SolidWorks, Creo, CATIA, AutoCAD, Inventor, or similar engineering design tools to create and modify manufacturing-related designs and documentation.

  • Strong computer skills, including experience with Microsoft Office applications and engineering, manufacturing, or data analysis software.

  • Ability to collect, analyze, and interpret production and process data to support continuous improvement initiatives and drive data-based decision-making.

Desired Experience

  • Experience with Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, Kaizen, Value Stream Mapping, or other continuous improvement methodologies.

  • Familiarity with manufacturing process development, standard work creation, time and motion studies, production planning, and workflow optimization.

  • Experience supporting machining, fabrication, assembly, or automated manufacturing environments.

  • Knowledge of quality systems, root cause analysis, PFMEA, control plans, statistical process control (SPC), and other quality improvement tools.

  • Proficiency with ERP, MRP, MES, or manufacturing execution systems.

    Pay Range: $60,000-$95,000 commensurate with experience
