This entry-level engineer is responsible for supporting production processes, learning manufacturing systems, and assisting with continuous improvement initiatives under close supervision. This position requires a combination of technical expertise, problem-solving skills, and the ability to work collaboratively across multiple departments.
- Assist in developing and maintaining standard work instructions
- Support process troubleshooting on the production floor
- Collect and analyze basic production data (scrap, cycle time, downtime)
- Participate in Lean / Six Sigma projects (often as a team member)
- Help implement process improvements and cost reduction ideas
- Support tooling, fixtures, and equipment setup
- Ensure compliance with safety and quality standards
- Work with operators and technicians to resolve day-to-day issues
- BSME or equivalent
- 0 to 2 years of experience in a manufacturing engineering role
- Basic knowledge of manufacturing processes and equipment
- Introductory Lean concepts (5S, waste reduction)
- CAD exposure (e.g., SolidWorks, AutoCAD)
- Excel / basic data analysis
