Essential Responsibilities
  • Evaluate manufacturing processes by designing and conducting research programs while applying knowledge of product design, fabrication, assembly, tooling, and materials.
  • Develop manufacturing processes by researching, designing, modifying, and testing manufacturing methods and equipment.
  • Improve manufacturing efficiency by analyzing workflow, space requirements, and equipment layout.
  • Assist production with programming and adjusting robotic MIG welders and resistance welders.
  • Ensure product and process quality by designing testing methods, establishing standards, and confirming manufacturing processes.
  • Calculate production, labor, and material costs while reviewing production schedules and estimating future requirements.
  • Prepare product and process reports by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing manufacturing data and trends.
  • Investigate current manufacturing technologies and implement mechanical improvements to create more repeatable, stable, and reliable manufacturing processes.
  • Implement mechanical improvements to production equipment while maintaining equipment, process, and part specifications.
  • Perform hands-on improvements to manufacturing equipment approximately 70% of the time.
  • Research and cost improvement opportunities approximately 25% of the time.
  • Perform clerical responsibilities, including purchase orders and project timelines, approximately 5% of the time.

Requirements

Qualifications
  • Mechanical Engineering Technology degree or similar degree preferred. Equivalent work experience demonstrating mechanical knowledge, theory, and application will be considered.
  • Proficiency with 3D CAD software (Creo preferred).
  • Minimum of 1-3 years of technical experience in a lean manufacturing environment.
  • Ability to read blueprints, schematics, and wiring diagrams.
  • Experience troubleshooting, repairing, and performing preventative maintenance on heavy industrial manufacturing equipment.
  • Industrial experience working with electrical, pneumatic, and hydraulic systems.
  • Knowledge of PLC programming, industrial sensors, and servo motors is a plus.
  • Experience conducting time studies and reporting collected data.
