The opportunity

The Managing Editor serves as an editorial lead for our site TechRepublic covering topics such as Project management, HR, and Cloud Security. This role is also charged with the development and management of editorial personnel and writing for a variety of topics as the team grows. 

In this role, you will be personally responsible for meeting or exceeding production KPIs while remaining within budget. Charged with the creation, maintenance, and assignment of editorial calendars and backlogs, the managing editor will oversee the copy editing and publishing backlogs as well.

The Managing Editor partners with Lead Writers, the SEO team, and the Revenue team to ensure that all topics under their purview are covered appropriately. You will coordinate with the site's other Managing Editors to ensure the entire site is publishing consistently and growing at scale. As Managing Editor, you work closely with Content Operations to source and recruit freelancers. You will also coordinate with the Creative and Content Marketing teams to develop high-value multimedia content for your topic.

Managing Editors on TechRepublic are responsible for ensuring the Writers, Content Production Assistants, and Copy Editors that report to you are properly utilized within your topic area and across the site. Further, you are responsible for your direct reports meeting or exceeding their own KPIs, and thus conduct quality checks regularly. As a specific topic or topics editorial leader, you are responsible for ensuring all published copy aligns with the site's audience, mission, and vision.


What you'll do

  • Plan, assign, develop, and edit content articles weekly for topics under your purview
  • Work closely with freelancers and internal staff to meet production goals and continually raise quality standards
  • Strategize with SEO and monetization teams to support revenue goals
  • Manage a staff of writers, freelancers, and copy editors
  • Work with fellow topic team leads to plan and execute against the content strategy, keeping quality and production speed as priorities
  • Write unbiased articles that seek to inform the reader and provide them with the best options 

Who you are

  • Minimum 2-4 years in editorial leadership role
  • Comprehensive understanding of editorial strategy for a variety of topics including software
  • Working knowledge of SEO and Revenue best practices for online content
  • Understanding of resource scheduling best practices
  • Agile professional who excels in a fast-paced environment and thrives on continuously pivoting strategies to drive business needs forward
  • You love finding new and creative ways to reach readers
  • You have a genuine interest in tech and how it relates to HR Software, PM software, and Security

Salary Range
TechnologyAdvice seeks to hire top-tier individuals across the world and intends for our compensation to be at a rate that allows us to recruit and retain individuals who align with our core values, purpose, mission, and vision.   
Final total compensation is based on a multitude of factors including, but not limited to, skill level, relevant experience to the position, and cost of labor.

Annual pay range

$75,000$95,000 USD
