The Role

ETC is seeking a Managing Associate General Counsel to serve as a strategic partner to the VP of Finance & General Counsel and a key leader across the business. This role blends hands on legal leadership with people management and cross functional influence in a fast growing global manufacturing environment. Hybrid schedule will be considered.

What You’ll Do
• Act as a trusted legal and business advisor to senior leaders across various teams
• Lead legal strategy for commercial transactions, acquisitions, and strategic partnerships
• Proactively identify, assess, and mitigate legal, regulatory, and enterprise risk
• Oversee global entity governance, contract compliance, and dispute management
• Lead data privacy compliance efforts (GDPR, CCPA, and global frameworks)
• Support and protect ETC’s global intellectual property portfolio
• Monitor global regulatory developments and guide post launch compliance as requirements evolve
• Draft, negotiate, and oversee a wide range of global commercial agreements

Lead & Build the Team
• Manage and develop the Legal and Regulatory teams
• Recruit, mentor, and retain top legal talent
• Establish scalable processes, workflows, and ISO aligned procedures
• Drive operational excellence through metrics, process improvement, and legal technology
• Deliver practical legal training across the organization

Key Responsibilities:
Assists the VP of Finance & General Counsel with the following:
• Drive cross-functional alignment between Legal, Compliance, Finance, Operations, and Product teams
• Oversee legal department budgeting, resource planning, and operation performance
• Develop and implement scalable processes, templates, and best practices to support growth and operational efficiencies
• Identify, assess, and proactively mitigate legal and business risks across transactions and operations
• Draft, negotiate and manage a wide range of commercial agreements
• Lead legal strategy for acquisitions and strategic partnerships
• Manage entity governance for domestic and global subsidiaries (filings, renewals, registrations)
• Monitor contract performance and compliance
• Lead enterprise-wide risk assessments and develop risk mitigation frameworks
• Oversee data privacy compliance, including GDPR, CCPA, and global privacy frameworks
• Litigation and dispute management: track and report dispute status and exposure to Finance and executive teams
• Coordinate and manage external legal counsel to ensure high-quality, cost-effective support
• Develop and deliver legal training (e.g., contract, regulatory, compliance, ethics) to internal stakeholders
• Support the development and maintenance of ETC’s global intellectual property portfolio
• Manage the regulatory team
• Monitoring global regulatory developments that impact products and ETC operations
• Monitoring applicable product regulatory requirements and assist with compliance post-launch as regulations change
• Design and maintain regulatory processes and workflows
• Work with various departments to align practices with regulatory requirements

Supervisory Responsibilities:
• Coordinates and collaborates with other departments of the company in establishing and carrying out responsibilities
• Develop and maintain positive communication between department and other departments.
• Performs the hiring, orientation, training, performance management, career development, and overall employee development of department personnel.
• Formulates, implements & reviews ISO procedures related to the department
• Instructs employees about procedures and work instructions
• Informs employees on company/departmental plans and progress
• Maintains reporting on all department activities
• Continue to monitor efficiency in the department and make improvements where appropriate

Additional Responsibilities:
• Other duties as assigned.
• Special projects and requests are completed in a timely and positive fashion
• Ability to travel when necessary

Required Skills & Qualifications:
• Bachelor’s degree
• Juris doctorate degree from an accredited law school
• Good standing as a member of the Wisconsin State Bar (or the ability to become a member of the Wisconsin State Bar)
• 7 + years of legal experience
• 3 + years of supervisory experience
• Demonstrated ability to perform the duties of Associate General Counsel
• Demonstrated ability to work independently and perform multiple tasks without general supervision.
• Exceptional legal drafting, negotiation and research skills
• Strong business acumen with ability to identify and balance legal risk and commercial objectives
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Highly organized, adaptable, and capable of managing competing priorities from multiple stakeholders
• Experience with cloud-based contract management systems preferred
• Working knowledge of employment law
• Strong attention to detail and follow-through
• Proven leadership skills with the ability to influence, mentor and manage diverse teams
