Love leading people? Curious how a branch really runs? Ready to grow into a leadership role that actually makes a difference?

Our Manager in Training (MIT) Program is designed for motivated, service‑driven individuals who want a hands‑on path into branch leadership while learning from experienced mentors along the way.

This isn’t a “sit and watch” program — it’s a real opportunity to learn, lead, and build the skills needed to become a Branch Manager at Northland Area Federal Credit Union.

What This Role Is All About

At Northland, our mission is simple and powerful:
“To be our members’ most trusted financial partner.”

As a Manager in Training, you’ll learn how great leadership, exceptional service, and community involvement all come together inside a successful branch. During the program, you’ll rotate through key areas of branch operations while building confidence, leadership skills, and a deep understanding of what it takes to manage people, performance, and member relationships.

You’ll be supported every step of the way by a mentor, with regular coaching, feedback, and development conversations.

Your Learning Journey: The 5‑Phase MIT Program

Our structured training program gives you exposure to all the essentials of branch leadership — without overwhelming you.

Phase 1: Branch Operations
Learn how a branch runs day‑to‑day, from processes and compliance to systems and workflow.

Phase 2: Member Service Excellence
Discover what outstanding service really looks like and how to build trust‑based relationships with members.

Phase 3: Leadership Development
Grow your leadership style, decision‑making skills, and professional confidence.

Phase 4: Coaching & Staff Development
Learn how to motivate, train, and coach teams to achieve their best work.

Phase 5: Business Development & Community Involvement
Represent the credit union in the community while learning how branches develop business by growing relationships, deposits, and lending opportunities.

What You’ll Bring

We’re looking for someone who is:

  • Motivated, curious, and eager to grow
  • Comfortable stepping into leadership situations
  • Passionate about service and helping others succeed
  • Open to coaching, feedback, and continuous learning

Qualifications preferred:

  • Associate degree or  higher in business or comparable experience
  • Experience in financial services, sales, or leadership
  • Ability to travel locally and hold a valid driver’s license
  • Willingness to obtain required trainings and certifications during the program (we’ll support you!)

What Happens After the Program?

Upon successful completion of the MIT Program:

  • You’ll be eligible to apply for open Branch Manager positions
  • You’ll be prepared to lead a branch with confidence, consistency, and heart

Why Northland?

  • Purpose‑driven culture focused on people, not just numbers
  • Strong mentorship and leadership support
  • Genuine commitment to growth and development
  • Opportunities to make a real impact in the communities we serve

If you’re excited about leadership, service, and building a meaningful career — this could be your next step!
