To manage the Facility maintenance activities of Intelsat Teleport. To ensure that the equipment, procedures, and the performance of Intelsat stations meet the high standard of service for our customers and users. Represents the company with local vendors and equipment providers. Provides supervision and execution of capital projects.
What you will do

  • Pro-actively support and perform day-to-day activities which include operations, preventative, routine, emergency maintenance, and repair of station facility equipment to ensure its maximum availability for operational requirements. Station facility equipment includes but not limited to Antenna systems, HVAC, Plumbing, Electrical, Mechanical, Electronic, Grounds Keeping, UPS/Power Generation, Security Systems, and Fire Protection & Detection Systems
  • Oversee implementation of preventative maintenance program. Supervise and oversee service contractors ensuring they perform according to contractual requirements.
  • Liaise as required between the various Intelsat Departments involved in station activities and its local staff
  • Provide theoretical and practical training to Teleport Technician staff in operational procedures and the repair and maintenance of the equipment.
  • Ensure correct implementation and performance of hardware and software modifications on Teleport Facility equipment.
  • Oversee the performance of activation and delivery of services to Intelsat customers as per established service level agreements.
  • Negotiate and manage all local vendor contracts for utilities, system maintenance and services.
  • Report any deviations to service availability caused by safety, security, equipment degradation, ground system failure, potential loss of facility system support, or other local conditions resulting in potential loss of revenues or increase risk to Intelsat conduct of its business.
  • Ensure that all Facility services are performed in compliance with local health and safety, and regulatory laws.
  • Ensure compliance with Electrical Operational Safety Measures in accordance with a VDE 1000-10 certification electrical standard.
  • Provide management and oversight of Capital and OpEx projects related to the facility infrastructure.
  • Direct development of operational and maintenance procedures
  • Lead investigation and implementation of system enhancements to improve reliability, increase efficiency, simplify operation, or reduce overall operating cost.
  • Promote Intelsat services to potential new customers and maintain proactive public relations with all local and regional representatives.
  • Act as the Intelsat representative to facilitate the implementation of new services, obtaining local licenses and authorizations.


Your required experience/skills

  • Bachelors' Degree required in a technical field plus 7 - 10 years relevant experience preferred.
  • Fluent in English, both verbal and written
  • Fluent in German, both verbal and written
  • Detailed knowledge of local regulatory requirements
  • Expertise in satellite earth station facility management to include HVAC, UPS, electrical switch gear, generator and mechanical.
  • Must possess expertise scheduling activities for Teleport personnel, leading resolutions of service anomalies, budget management and expense accounting.
  • Must be able and willing to lead a team, including management and guidance of daily responsibilities, coaching, mentoring, and developing employees.
  • Ability to climb, and work from a ladder, stooping, sitting, laying, and the ability to lift and carry up to 50 lbs.

  • Experience negotiating with vendor/suppliers on contracts.
  • Experience completing and submitting applications for licenses in connection with local government agencies; and experience interacting with government officials and authorities.
