Job Summary:
The Grid Specialist will work closely with the Technical Team, focusing on supporting securing grid connections and other technical workstreams. Frequent interfacing with the Business Development Team and external stakeholders such as DU, grid operator, consultants and contractors is expected. Candidate will focus on NGCP connected projects from SIS to CA and to test and commissioning and eventual COD. It is expected that multiple projects will be handled simultaneously, with eventual site visits.
Key Responsibilities:
Plan and recommend grid interconnection scheme for the BD projects.
Prepare grid interconnection studies documentation and coordinate with grid operator and distribution utilities for the project interconnection requirements from SIS to CA up to test and commissioning and grid integration.
Prepare interconnection facility study, power evacuation facilities, substation and TL designs, SLDs, AC/DC schematic diagrams, technical specification and data sheets, bill of materials and cost estimates as needed for the project
Review and evaluate HV equipment, power transformers, secondary devices and suppliers, and recommend optimal design/layout configurations aiming to minimize LCOE.
Support technical, land acquisition and permitting teams and workstreams by providing analyses and producing detailed reports which review the feasibility of sites for development, including feasibility studies, layout optimization.
Review and evaluate technical documentation, either related to solar, wind and grid technology or to other engineering related workstreams.
Review solar, wind, energy storage projects’ RFT design requirements, plans and specifications;
Review EPC design document and to ensure compliance with project requirements, local and international standards and utility interconnection requirements;
Manage, coordinate with OE and EPC contractor for design reviews, construction monitoring, equipment procurement and deliveries, QA/QC/HSSE implementation, etc.
Coordinate with regulatory offices, LGUs, and other concerned agencies for project permitting and technical compliances;
Coordinate with utilities (NGCP/distribution utility/electric cooperative) concerning scheduling of works inside the utility premises and system interface requirements;
Assist with the coordination of technical activities and designs with personnel in other business units and departments within the local and regional offices;
Attend meetings with clients, consultants and contractors to coordinate and supervise various project development related activities;
Occasionally visit operational and under construction projects as necessary to provide technical support and oversee the work done by contractors, aiming to ensure compliance of the execution according to the design and contract technical specifications;
Assist with other duties that may be assigned
Pre-requisites:
Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering and Licensed Electrical Engineer
More than 5 years in substation and transmission line design and construction
Experience in grid integration, substation and transmission line design and construction
Knowledgeable on NGCP and Meralco standards
Experience on grid integration and substation test and commissioning
EPC or OE experience on solar project is a plus
