Role & Responsibilities:
● Lead and manage the US Tax Compliance function, ensuring effective execution across teams.
● Define and implement internal processes, review mechanisms, and KPIs for the tax preparation function, ensuring compliance, efficiency, and continuous improvement.
● Manage work allocation, timelines, productivity, delivery quality, and process adherence.
● Provide technical guidance, escalation support, and performance accountability on complex tax and compliance matters.
● Mentor and coach team members, conduct structured and on-the-job training, identify skill gaps, and drive continuous capability development and knowledge sharing.
● Identify opportunities to improve internal tax preparation systems, processes, and software, providing actionable recommendations.
● Build a culture of ownership, accountability, knowledge sharing, and continuous improvement.
● Establish and strengthen SOPs, compliance controls, workflow governance, and ensure adherence to firm policies, regulatory standards, and audit requirements; support internal and external audits as needed.
● Maintain confidentiality, integrity, and ethical standards in all aspects of work.
● Prepare and present status reports to management and US teams while monitoring and analyzing key performance indicators (KPIs) such as productivity, error rates, and turnaround time.
● Support the transition and onboarding of new clients, processes, and tax years, ensuring smooth knowledge transfer, process readiness, and compliance with delivery timelines and quality standards.
● Work and resource planning, especially during peak tax seasons, to ensure timely and quality deliverables.
Skill Requirement:
● 7+ years of experience in U.S. taxation and compliance, including managing a team of 10–20 tax professionals, ensuring compliance accuracy and productivity, and the ability to define and implement processes, KPIs, and review mechanisms.
● Strong knowledge of US federal and multi-state tax laws, regulations, compliance requirements, and filing processes, including deadlines.
● Strong knowledge of US tax return preparation (individual and/or business returns) with the ability to review complex returns and identify technical issues.
● Proven experience in team leadership, mentoring, or managerial responsibility.
● Experience in CPA firms or tax outsourcing preferred.
● Strong analytical, problem-solving, communication, and mentoring skills.
● Familiarity with trackers or ticketing systems to efficiently manage tasks, monitor progress, and ensure accountability.
● Proficiency in tax software such as MyTaxPrepOffice, ProSeries, Drake, UltraTax, Lacerte, or TurboTax Professional, along with MS Office tools.
● Knowledge of documentation standards and preparation of audit-ready workpapers.
● Demonstrates adaptability to changing regulations, priorities, and business needs.
● EA or CPA certification is an added advantage.
