Job Summary

Reporting to the Vice President of State and Local Government Affairs, Strategic Initiatives and Community Affairs. This position is responsible for assisting in the management and coordination of headquarters and district activity related to high-priority, national workstreams such as network expansion (self-funded & subsidized), GONs/overbuild defense, intergovernmental affairs, strategic community investment, and other special projects. This role will assist with developing and implementing strategic initiatives aligning with state and local legislative strategies and tactics to assist in achieving all objectives for state and local legislative as well as regulatory efforts. This role will track relationships with membership organizations in the state and local legislative and regulatory advocacy space, as well as support the state and local GCA teams in close coordination with Political Affairs, Public Affairs, and SLGA Operations and Administration.

Job Description

CORE RESPONSIBILITIES: 

  • Assist with managing and coordinating district activity around high-priority, national workstreams such as network expansion (self-funded & subsidized), GONs/overbuild defense, intergovernmental affairs, strategic community investment, etc. 
  • In close coordination with Political Affairs and SLGA Operations and Administration, assist with strategic participation in state, local, and regulatory intergovernmental associations programs. This includes strategic planning, coordination, and direct participation in Comcast’s engagement with all partisan and nonpartisan associations of governors, attorneys general, state constitutional officers, legislators, city councils, mayors, and select officeholder groups. 
  • Coordinate with GCA district teams and Operations & Administration teams on community investment programs and third party relationships. 
  • Support the GCA district teams with work in state and local governments, including legislative strategies and tactics before the legislatures, executive branches, state agencies, city councils, mayors’ offices. 
  • Work as a strategic partner with the GCA district leads to accomplish business and policy goals of the organization.  
  • Manage strategic relationships with third parties in close coordination with the district GCA district teams, the Political Affairs team, and the Public Affairs team. 
  • Assist in coordinating and navigating issue campaigns with all other relevant corporate teams. 
  • Travel to attend meetings, conferences, or other events to represent the company.  
  • Other duties and responsibilities as assigned.  

 

PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE & QUALIFICATIONS: 

  • Proven exceptional consulting, facilitation, and client relationship management skills.  
  • Strong team player and be willing to assist department in various tasks. 
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and possess good organization skills. 
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and represent Comcast in a positive, professional manner. 
  • Ability to build relationships as well as work collaboratively to build consensus and positive buy-in/support for initiatives. 
  • Proven ability to influence and drive significant organizational change using independent ideas, judgement, and implementation. 
  • Strong presentation and communication skills, able to effectively communicate at all levels of the organization both in written and oral form. 
  • Proven excellent project management skills. Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously. 
  • Exceptional time management and strong eye for detail. 
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment. 
  • Travel required: 25-30% 

 

EDUCATION LEVEL: Bachelor’s degree.   

YEARS EXPERIENCE: 7+ years related experience.
