Description
The Manager of Permitting Services oversees Permitting Department and works with the project team in processing permits for various projects.
Requirements:
A Bachelors Degree or a minimum of 10-12 years’ experience in a professional architectural/engineering firm, government affairs experience, strong leadership, analytical and negotiating skills. This position requires an understanding of architecture/engineering and building construction, excellent communication skills, both written and verbal and the ability to persuasively speak before large groups. The ability to develop and maintain collaborative working relationships internally and externally. Must be a self-starter with the ability to organize and implement several concurrent projects and exercise sound judgment in prioritizing. Must have a valid driver's license.
Responsibilities/Skills:
- Design, develop and implement a comprehensive government relations program that includes state and local government relations.
- Monitors and provides advice on state legislation and regulation that could impact CP.
- Work with senior management to increase CP’s visibility with elected officials, regulatory agencies, and their staff.
- Participate and represent CP in various trade associations such as Build Point, ICSC and other related organizations (i.e., career fairs)
- Oversees the processing of permits, projects, reports and correspondences with regulatory agencies and personnel at the local, state and federal level, assuring that all processes and procedures are documented and adhere to regulations.
- May be responsible for creating and issuing reports necessary for permitting operations with the company.
- Oversees processing of permits with the Federal, State, and local regulatory agencies.
- Generates decisions on projects, regarding budgets and personnel.
- Directs staff according to timeline and priority of projects.
- Manage, train and lead Permitting team
- Addresses all questions and correspondences dealing with specific permits and projects.
- Meets with clients regarding all issues of the permit process.
- Creates reports needed to comply with federal, state, and local regulatory agencies.
- Collects and reviews all plans, permits, and reports before sending them to agencies.
- Represents company in in-house and outside meetings with agencies, vendors, clients, and industry personnel.
- Attends meetings with different agencies and personnel with the purpose of expediting permit process.
- Manages the progress of securing permits for projects.
- Prioritizes projects in regards to time line and budget.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
Must be able to sit and/or stand for long periods of time, able to handle stressful situations and multi-tasking, able to work under time constraints, long hours may be required. The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of the job. Must have the ability to lift and carry up to forty pounds.
WORK ENVIRONMENT:
Must be able to handle stressful situations, multi-tasking, and working within reasonable time constraints to meet production schedules and budgets. Will work in normal office environment and may also be required to work outside of a normal office from
time-to-time.
