The Position
Manage & oversee the Automation Technicians & Desktop Support team members, providing direction, coaching/mentoring & support for NNPILP DFP operations. Provide leadership & guidance to direct reports. Responsible for developing super users in the PCS, MES, Historian, BMS, & PLC applications for the purpose of providing first-level support to the Operations personnel for these applications. Ensures effective stakeholder management using effective communication & expectation alignment.

Essential Functions
- Identify continuous improvement opportunities & implement them in order to maintain & improve process control systems
- Support automation engineer technicians as a coach & mentor on automation projects that involve process control systems
- Provides expert advice on automation-related software licenses & service level agreements
- Support audits & inspections as SME for process control systems
- Primary lead on automation engineering stakeholder management, actively involving automation technicians to meet stakeholder expectations at all levels across the organization, as well as in Denmark (DK)
- Provide direction & assistance to direct reports in order to meet &/or exceed customer requirements
- Responsible for the completion of the periodic preventive maintenance (PM) plans related to automation & desktop support assets
- Schedule & execute plans in coordination with manufacturing schedules
- Collaborate with department leadership with oversight of training, development, coaching, performance management, recruitment & employee relations
- Manage, lead & coach direct reports to ensure a high performing collaborative team environment. Provide continuous feedback, structure & accountability to improve team performance
- Drive technical discussions & problem solving
- Create, develop, define & implement dynamic key performance indicators (KPIs) for areas of responsibility
- Ensure automation systems & processes are available, capable & accessible to meet production & business requirements
- Follow all safety & environmental requirements in the performance of duties
- Operate within the quality system
- Support corporate, DFP, local IT & local stakeholder initiatives & projects
- Govern behavior based on the Novo Nordisk Way

Physical Requirements
Ability to work in an open office environment with the possibility of frequent distraction. Ability to travel up to 10% of the time. (% can change on a case-by-case basis based on the role.)

Ensure that reporting personnel have individual development plans (IDP), with annual goals and measurements that are consistent with the priorities of the business, and that interim reviews are held so that their work is focused on those priorities, and they understand their level of accountability for results and the measurement process.
Ensure that the IDP forms include completed learning and aspiration plans and are in place for all reporting personnel to enable the achievement of goals and capability to assume increased levels of responsibility.
Manage the application and communication of all Novo Nordisk policies, procedures, and Novo Nordisk Way.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in engineering/related technical field required
- Minimum of eight (8) years engineering experience in process-based manufacturing, utility &/or packaging systems required
- Windows Operating Systems required
- Manufacturing information systems (Automation & IT) knowledge as applied within a GxP environment required
- Relational databases (MS SQL, Oracle & Manufacturing Execution Systems [MES]) required
- Automated control systems, related & supporting infrastructure & protocols required
- Proven expertise in mentoring/development, planning/organizing, managing execution & revising the work plan for complex problems solved by cross functional teams preferred
- Ability to relate well to a wide cross section of stakeholders preferred
- Proven expertise, (e.g., project management) in planning/organization & project execution, follow-up & completion preferred
