Mission Brief 

The Manager of Indirect Procurement will lead the indirect procurement area and manage a small team of buyers, while remaining actively involved in the hands-on management of selected categories. Together, the team covers a broad range of indirect spend, including transport services, facility-related services, professional services, tools, equipment, trainings and other operational support categories. This position combines people leadership, stakeholder engagement, and category management to ensure reliable, cost-effective, and compliant procurement support for the business. 

Your Role in Our Space Mission: 

  • Lead, support, and develop a small team of buyers, ensuring clear priorities, effective workload management, and strong day-to-day procurement support., POQ
  • Oversee the team’s indirect category scope, covering areas such as transport services, facility-related services, professional services, tools, IT equipment, and other operational support categories.
  • Take direct ownership of selected categories, managing sourcing activities, supplier relationships, and commercial topics hands-on where required.
  • Develop and implement sourcing and category strategies that balance cost, quality, service, risk, and business needs.
  • Manage sourcing processes, including RFIs, RFQs, RFPs, supplier evaluations, negotiations, and contract awards.
  • Build and maintain strong supplier relationships, ensuring competitive pricing, reliable service levels, and continuous supplier performance improvement. Work closely with internal stakeholders to understand requirements, align priorities, and ensure procurement solutions support operational and strategic goals.
  • Drive savings, cost avoidance, process improvements, supplier performance, and procurement KPIs.
  • Ensure procurement activities comply with internal policies, approval processes, contractual requirements, and applicable regulatory standards. 

Qualification Checklist 

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Supply Chain Management, Engineering, or a related field.
  • Several years of procurement experience, with a strong focus on indirect procurement and category management.
  • Experience leading, coordinating, or mentoring buyers, project teams, or cross-functional procurement activities.
  • Proven experience managing indirect categories such as transport services, facility-related services, professional services, tools, IT equipment, or comparable operational spend areas.
  • Experience in aerospace, manufacturing, defense, or another regulated industry is an advantage.
  • People leadership skills with the ability to set priorities, guide others, and support team development.
  • Strong understanding of indirect procurement, strategic sourcing, and category management.
  • Hands-on approach with the ability to independently manage categories and deliver results.
  • Strong negotiation, contract management, supplier management, and commercial skills.
  • Good understanding of procurement governance, supplier risk, and compliance requirements.
  • Excellent communication, analytical thinking, stakeholder management, and decision-making skills.
  • Professional procurement certification, such as CIPS or CPSM, is a plus.
