GENERAL SUMMARY OF DUTIES: The Manager of FP&A – Physician Compensation is responsible for leading the financial planning, analysis, modeling, and reporting processes related to physician compensation across a private equity-backed, multi-site gastroenterology physician practice.  This role serves as the finance business partner for physician compensation strategy, ensuring compensation plans are modeled accurately, aligned with organizational objectives, and supported by timely financial analysis.
The Manager will oversee physician compensation productivity analytics, contract modeling, and executive reporting while collaborating closely with Operations and Revenue Cycle.  This position plays a critical role in evaluating provider productivity, compensation trends, and financial performance to support strategic decision-making.
Success in this role requires exceptional financial modeling skills, advanced Excel expertise, strong analytical capabilities, and the ability to communicate complex financial information to executive leadership and physician stakeholders.  The position requires the highest level of discretion when handling confidential physician compensation data, employment agreements, and financial information.
 
RESPONSIBILITIES: 
  • Develop, maintain, and enhance physician compensation models supporting multiple compensation methodologies, including productivity, collections, quality, and value-based incentives.
  • Partner with executive leadership to evaluate the financial impact of physician compensation plan changes and strategic initiatives.
  • Perform variance analysis comparing actual compensation to budget.
  • Analyze physician productivity metrics, including wRVUs, collections, procedural volumes, ancillary revenue, and profitability.
  • Collaborate with Revenue Cycle, Operations, and other business partners to validate compensation inputs and ensure data integrity.
  • Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual compensation reporting packages for executive leadership and physician stakeholders.
  • Drive process improvements through automation, standardization, and enhanced reporting capabilities.
  • Support broader FP&A initiatives, including budgeting, and ad hoc financial analysis.
  • Perform other duties and special projects as assigned.
 
EDUCATION, SKILLS, & EXPERIENCE: 
  • Required Qualifications
    • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration, Healthcare Administration, or related field.
    • 7+ years of experience in FP&A, healthcare finance, provider analytics, and financial modeling.
    • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel, including financial modeling, Power Query, PivotTables, and large dataset analysis.
    • Experience using Oracle, Hyperion, Power BI (PBI), NetSuite or similar ERP/financial systems, and Vena.
    • Demonstrated ability to work with complex datasets while maintaining high accuracy and attention to detail.
    • Excellent analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
    • Proven ability to manage multiple priorities and consistently meet deadlines.
    • Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to explain complex financial information to non-financial stakeholders.
  • Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience supporting private equity-backed healthcare organizations.
  • o    Experience supporting specialty physician practices, particularly gastroenterology or other procedural specialties.
  • o    Familiarity with physician productivity metrics such as wRVUs and collections-based compensation models.

WORK ENVIRONMENT:
Requires sitting and standing associated with a normal office environment.  Travel required as business needs dictate. This position follows a hybrid work model requiring regular in-office presence (minimum 2–3 days per week) to support collaboration and business needs.
