Position Summary

This position entails taking ownership of financial accounting and control tasks delegated by the Finance Center of Excellence (CoE) to the subsidiaries of the London Stock Exchange Group. The role is deeply committed to handling services for the Group, driving improvement initiatives, encouraging resilience, and collaborating with parties in the organization to seamlessly integrate activities. The candidate will play a role within the Finance CoE team, necessitating proficiency in project management, expertise, and the management of crucial collaborator relationships.

Role Responsibilities

  • Oversee and ensure the timely and accurate recording of all project-related transactions, monthly closure activities, and financial reporting within the Project Accounting module across the Group.
  • Manage and develop team members, fostering a high-performance culture through coaching, feedback, and clear goal setting. Ensure resource alignment to meet operational and strategic objectives.
  • Coordinate with Project Managers and Business Partners when needed to review CAPEX and OPEX spending for respective projects, ensuring costs are accurately recorded in the books.
  • Lead system transitions and project delivery, ensuring deadlines are met and recommending process improvements to enhance efficiency and outcomes.
  • Govern the integration of permanent labour time-sheet submissions from Clarity into the Project Accounting module, ensuring data integrity and process efficiency.
  • Drive process standardization and documentation, enhancing operational resilience and fostering a culture of continuous improvement and efficiency across the team.
  • Lead the onboarding and integration of new scope areas, ensuring alignment with the Target Operating Model (TOM) and strategic objectives.
  • Develop and maintain comprehensive training materials, supporting capability building and knowledge retention within the team.
  • Ensure adherence to Group policies, internal SOX controls, and established process frameworks, maintaining robust financial governance and risk management.
  • Deliver high-quality financial outputs under tight reporting timelines, ensuring accuracy, consistency, and stakeholder confidence.
  • Collaborate strategically with Entity/Divisional Controllers, Group Reporting, and Statutory Reporting teams to ensure seamless financial operations and reporting.
  • Manage internal and external audit queries, ensuring timely resolution and provision of complete supporting documentation.

Preferred Skills and Experience

  • Progressive work experience in general accounting, supported by a professional accounting qualification, with at least 8 years of relevant experience.
  • Candidates with part qualification or a relevant degree and substantial experience will also be considered.
  • Experience in system integrations and data migration is an added advantage.
  • Team management and leadership experience is desirable, with a focus on performance development and engagement.
  • Strong understanding of project accounting principles, including transaction recording, monthly closures, and financial reporting across multiple entities or business divisions.
  • Familiarity with time-sheet systems (e.g., Clarity) and integrating labour data into financial modules.
  • Consistent record to standardize, document, and improve financial processes to enhance operational resilience and drive efficiency.
  • Proficiency in ERP systems such as Oracle, Oracle Fusion and SAP.
  • Strong analytical skills with attention to detail and a proactive approach to problem-solving.
  • Excellent communication and partner management skills, with the ability to collaborate across finance, HR, and project teams.
  • Experience working in a fast-paced environment with a focus on continuous improvement.

  • Solid understanding of core accounting concepts.
  • Experience handling cross-geography relationships.
  • Advanced Excel skills and confidence in handling complex spreadsheets for accurate reporting.
  • Proven ability to standardize processes and documentation.
  • Strong advocate for collaborative working culture across finance teams.
  • Ability to scope and shape the role while adapting to a constantly evolving environment.
  • Strong process orientation with the ability to design and operate robust reporting frameworks.
  • Ability to build strong working relationships with global colleagues.

  • Effective oral and written communication tailored to the target audience.
  • Skilled in using available resources and tools to investigate and resolve issues, ensuring the most appropriate solutions are implemented.

  • Proficiency in written and spoken English.
  • Willingness and ability to work according to UK business hours.
