The Manager, Content Enrichment will oversee our MENA team in delivering editorial and research services related to pop culture video content for our client. This role will guide the MENA team in curating, analyzing, researching, and building stories with online video content. The Manager will participate in collaborative problem-solving, with the ability to find innovative solutions through conversation and exchange of ideas with the 1021 Creative team. A strong ability to foster open and timely communication across multiple time zones and cultures in a remote environment is essential in this role. The Manager, in collaboration with the Director, Content Enrichment EMEA, acts as the main point of contact for MENA specific requests from our clients. This role will participate in the creation and maintenance of guidelines for MENA projects and ensure those guidelines are being followed. The Manager will work to support the team’s growth and success in their current roles, as well as guiding team members through any challenges they may face.

This is a bilingual position requiring fluency in both English and Arabic.

Responsibilities

  • Manage the MENA team of direct report Content Enrichment Specialists
  • Apply project management skills to monitor workflows, processes, and timelines for new and existing projects, and assign tasks to team members
  • Clearly define and communicate deliverables and timelines to team, and track all internal and client facing research and reports
  • Participate in client contract renewal discussions
  • Manage schedules for all of the MENA team members including coverage for holidays, vacation, sick time, etc. as well as hourly allotments per week
  • Train the MENA team on 1021 Reviewing & Editorial Guidelines, how to use client software tools, and other content review tools and documents
  • Create processes for maintaining, updating and receiving client approval on guidelines for video content review
  • Review MENA client work to ensure team understands editorial goals, and support team by making improvements in those processes as needed 
  • Self-assign a minimum of one content review shift per month
  • Participate in developing feedback for larger MENA team on specific country trends
  • Conduct weekly team meetings, weekly one-on-one meetings with individual team members, and weekly touch bases with the client 
  • Work with team to ensure compliance with 1021 Creative policies, including confidentiality and employee conduct
  • Facilitate individual employee growth through annual performance reviews, advocating for raises and bonuses where appropriate, and maintaining documentation in partnership with HR
  • Partner with recruitment and HR as a hiring manager to assess hiring needs, screen and interview candidates, make key hiring decisions and recommendations, and onboard new team members

Required Experience

  • Minimum 3 years of people management experience, preferably in a remote environment
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English and Arabic
  • Bachelor’s degree or experience in relevant job or industry
  • Deep familiarity with the cultural and political climates in the MENA region

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience working remotely and within multicultural teams
  • Experience with content moderation, content review, curation, or similar roles
  • Knowledge of content review guidelines and best practices
  • Experience with copywriting and proofreading, preferably with a focus on entertainment content
  • Experience working with data and statistical analysis
  • Comfortable working with Google Suite, with spreadsheets and other data management tools
  • Flexibility to adapt to changes in guidelines, workflows, and tools
  • Strong understanding of digital streaming products, particularly video and its ecosystem 
  • The ability to review information with an analytical and objective mindset in a fast paced environment
  • A keen interest in/knowledge of pop culture, social media trends and creators, and trending video content
  • Strong familiarity with memes, hit songs and content trends in pop culture including music, dance, gaming, beauty, fashion, film, TV, pets, comedy, and/or sports
  • Familiar with popular social media platform
