About the Role
We are seeking a dynamic and experienced Manager – Climate Change & Sustainability to join our growing team. The successful candidate will lead and deliver high-impact consulting assignments across climate change, climate finance, renewable energy, green finance, climate-smart agriculture, and natural resource management. The role combines technical leadership, project management, stakeholder engagement, and business development, supporting governments, development partners, financial institutions, and private sector clients to design and implement innovative, sustainable solutions. The ideal candidate will have strong analytical and project management skills, a proven track record in consultancy or technical advisory services, and the ability to lead multidisciplinary teams while contributing to MSC's growth across Africa.
Key Responsibilities
Technical Leadership & Project Delivery
  • Lead and manage consulting assignments in climate change, climate finance, renewable energy, climate-smart agriculture, natural resource management, and sustainability.
  • Provide high-quality technical assistance to governments, development partners, financial institutions, and private sector clients.
  • Develop innovative solutions that address climate adaptation, mitigation, resilience, and green growth challenges.
  • Ensure timely delivery of high-quality project outputs within agreed timelines and budgets.
  • Lead project planning, implementation, quality assurance, and reporting.
Business Development
  • Identify new business opportunities and contribute to the growth of MSC's Climate Change & Sustainability practice.
  • Lead and contribute to proposal development, concept notes, expressions of interest (EOIs), and technical and financial proposals.
  • Build and maintain strategic relationships with clients, development partners, governments, and key stakeholders.
  • Represent MSC during client meetings, conferences, workshops, and business development engagements.
Research & Knowledge Management
  • Lead research studies and technical assessments on climate change, renewable energy, sustainable finance, and environmental sustainability.
  • Produce high-quality reports, policy briefs, presentations, technical papers, and knowledge products.
  • Monitor emerging trends, policies, regulations, and innovations in climate change and sustainable development.
Stakeholder Engagement
  • Engage effectively with government ministries, regulators, development finance institutions, donors, and private sector organizations.
  • Facilitate workshops, stakeholder consultations, and capacity-building programs.
  • Provide strategic advisory support to clients on climate-related initiatives.
Team Leadership
  • Lead multidisciplinary consulting teams across multiple countries.
  • Mentor and coach junior consultants while promoting collaboration and technical excellence.
  • Support resource planning and effective project management.


RequirementsQualifications & Experience Required
  • Bachelor's degree in Climate Science, Sustainable Finance, Renewable Energy, Environmental Science, Natural Resource Management, or a related field.
  • A Master's degree in a relevant discipline will be an added advantage
  • Minimum 8 years of relevant professional experience in climate change, sustainability, renewable energy, climate finance, or related sectors.
  • At least 3 years' experience in management consulting or technical advisory services, preferably supporting governments, development partners, financial institutions, or the private sector.
  • Demonstrated experience leading research, consultancy, or technical assistance assignments in climate change, renewable energy, climate-smart agriculture, green finance, and related sectors.
  • Proven project management experience, including planning, implementation, stakeholder coordination, budgeting, and quality assurance.
  • Demonstrated experience in business development, proposal writing, and winning consulting assignments.
Skills & Competencies
  • Experience developing technical reports, concept notes, presentations, policy papers, and other knowledge products.                                             
  • Excellent project management and organizational skills.
  • Strong analytical, conceptual, and problem-solving abilities.
  • Excellent report writing, technical writing, and presentation skills.
  • Strong stakeholder engagement and relationship management skills.
  • Ability to lead multidisciplinary teams and manage multiple assignments simultaneously.

Skills Required
