About the Role

As the Manager, Business Development, you will build and maintain strategic partnerships across the GTA that strengthen IBU's external presence, generate prospective student opportunities, and support student recruitment and institutional growth objectives.

Success in this role requires a proactive, results-oriented approach to business development, with the perseverance, curiosity and persuasive communication skills to identify opportunities, build productive relationships, and cultivate sustainable recruitment channels.

What You'll Do

  • Identify and cultivate new business development opportunities that generate prospective student leads and support enrolment growth.
  • Develop and maintain strategic partnerships with schools, community organizations, Indigenous communities, associations, and industry partners, fostering long-term engagement and sustainable recruitment channels.
  • Represent IBU at networking events, career fairs, school visits, and community engagements.
  • Deliver compelling presentations IBU's programs and opportunities.
  • Manage partnership pipelines and track outreach, partnership development, and performance metrics using CRM systems and reporting tools.
  • Collaborate with Recruitment, Marketing, Admissions, and Academic teams to support student recruitment strategies and institutional growth objectives.

This is a field-based role requiring regular travel throughout the GTA.
A valid Ontario G Driver’s License, access to a reliable vehicle and willingness to travel extensively throughout the GTA is required. This role may require occasional evening and weekend commitments.

What You Bring/Who You Are

  • Bachelor’s degree in business, Communications, Education, Marketing, or a related field.
  • 5+ years of experience in business development, sales, partnerships, or other results-oriented external-facing roles.
  • Demonstrated success in prospecting, pipeline development, partner activation, and delivering measurable business outcomes.
  • Results-oriented professional with the ability to turn relationship-building activities into tangible recruitment and enrolment outcomes.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills, complemented by confident public speaking and presentation abilities.
  • Experience leveraging CRM platforms such as Salesforce to support business development, relationship management, and reporting activities.

Skills Required

  • Bachelor's degree in Education, Business, Communications, or a related field
  • Master's degree
  • Minimum 5 years progressive experience in business development, community outreach, student recruitment, or partnership development (education sector preferred)
  • Demonstrated success cultivating and sustaining strategic partnerships with diverse communities and educational stakeholders
  • Valid Ontario G driver's license and access to a reliable vehicle; comfort with frequent daily travel across the GTA
  • Willingness and ability to conduct sustained in-person outreach (fairs, community events, outdoor/on-site engagement) in varying conditions and seasons
  • Strong public speaking and presentation skills for in-person and virtual audiences
  • Proven commitment to equity, diversity, and inclusion principles in education and community-based work
  • Exceptional verbal and written communication skills and ability to manage sensitive/confidential information with discretion
  • Proficiency with CRM platforms (e.g., Salesforce) and experience with data management and reporting tools
  • Excellent organizational and project management abilities, able to handle multiple initiatives and deadlines
  • Knowledge of Canadian educational systems, settlement services, and Indigenous communities
  • Energetic, resourceful, results-driven with a track record of achieving business development goals
  • Strong collaboration skills and ability to build productive relationships across internal teams and external partners
  • Availability for occasional evening and weekend events as required by the outreach calendar
  • Hybrid work arrangement: on-site four days per week and reside in Ontario within reasonable commuting distance
