Risk Management is an independent function within CommBank, accountable for providing oversight, challenge, approval and acceptance of decisions to ensure the Group remains within its risk appetite.
The Technology and Operations Risk team provides specialist Operational Risk and Compliance (OR&C) advice, assurance and oversight across Technology, COO and Supplier Support Units. The AI Technology Risk team provides independent Line 2 oversight of technology risks associated with Artificial Intelligence (AI), Machine Learning (ML), Generative AI and emerging AI technologies.
Do work that matters
As a Manager, Artificial Intelligence Technology Risk you will be a member of a team of technology risk professionals that provides Operational Risk & Compliance Support to the Bank's Technology and Security divisions. The support you provide will result in improvements to risk management and controls managed by Technology.
The role requires building strong relationships and teamwork to improve the way that risk and compliance management practices are executed – whether to meet Group requirements or to support change initiatives that contribute towards Technology’s strategic priorities.
Key responsibilities for this role include
- Provide independent Line 2 oversight, advice and challenge on AI technology and cyber risks across the Chief AI Office, supporting the safe and responsible adoption of AI across the Group.
- Carry out Line 2 Operational Risk Management Framework responsibilities, including governance, reporting and assurance of AI-related risks, controls, issues and change risk activities in line with the Group's risk management frameworks.
- Build trusted relationships with Chief AI Office and Risk stakeholders to provide pragmatic risk advice and constructive challenge.
- Advocate and help to foster best practice risk management in the area of AI.
- Role model behaviours that are consistent with CBA values expectations and provide a safe workplace for all team members, customers and visitors.
We're interested in hearing from people who have
- Experience in Technology, Cyber, Operational or AI Risk Management, ideally in financial services.
- Understanding of risk management frameworks and the Three Lines of Accountability (3LoA) model.
- A curious and humble mindset, interest in Artificial Intelligence and emerging trends/technologies, and a willingness to build knowledge of AI-related risks and controls.
- High quality written and verbal communication skills, report writing, evidence gathering and data analysis capabilities.
- Stakeholder management and influencing skills, with the ability to engage Line 1 teams and engender trust with pragmatic, commercially balanced risk advice.
- Relevant tertiary qualifications in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, Cyber Security, Risk Management or a related discipline are desirable.
