  • Provide AML Expertise & Guidance – Serve as a subject-matter expert and trusted advisor to business units, senior leadership, and other key stakeholders on AML/ATF requirements, emerging risks, and appropriate risk mitigation.
  • Oversee Regulatory Compliance & Reporting – Ensure AML/ATF regulatory obligations and reporting requirements are met accurately and within established timelines, and support regulatory examinations, inquiries, and information requests.
  • Manage Third-Party AML Oversight – Act as the primary relationship owner for the third-party AML service provider, monitoring performance, challenging results where appropriate, and ensuring issues are identified, escalated, and resolved.
  • Lead & Develop the Team – Lead, coach, and develop the AML team while establishing clear priorities, performance expectations, and opportunities for growth.
  • Build a Culture of Compliance – Oversee AML/ATF training and awareness initiatives and promote a practical understanding of AML/ATF responsibilities across the Credit Union.

What You Bring:

  • Post-secondary education in business, finance, accounting, risk management, or a related discipline.
  • Certified AML Specialist (CAMS) designation or willingness to obtain.
  • 5+ years of progressive experience in AML/ATF, financial crime compliance, regulatory compliance, risk management, or a related field, preferably within a Canadian financial institution.
  • Strong knowledge of Canadian AML/ATF requirements and the regulatory environment applicable to financial institutions and credit unions.
  • Previous people leadership or team management experience.
  • Strong analytical, communication, organizational, and risk assessment skills.
  • Sound judgment, discretion, professionalism, and the ability to work independently and challenge when necessary.
  • Ability to effectively manage and hold third-party service providers accountable.
  • Willingness to travel occasionally to PCU branches throughout PEI.
