Why this job matters:

Knowledge of healthcare quality HEDIS scores and star ratings. Independently lead the analysis of healthcare HEDIS quality data for specific studies and corporate initiatives. Manage daily operations of the health data analytics department. Manage the development, implementation, and maintenance of health data analytics policies, procedures, and programs. Manage the production and development of utilization and cost containment information. Oversee the analysis and preparation of outcomes using healthcare claims data, pharmacy data, and lab data.

What you will do:

  • Provide direction and technical guidance to staff. Set goals, review, and evaluate work, and prepare performance reviews.
  • Manage the analysis, preparation, and presentation of outcomes using healthcare claims data, pharmacy data, and lab data. Oversee and participate in the development of data reports that will enhance the retention of current market share and attract new business by demonstrating cost containment.
  • Develop and monitor procedures and protocol for research and analysis of health data.
  • Analyze and review operational processes and procedures. Prepare recommendations to ensure efficiency.
  • Collaborate with management of operational areas to resolve issues identified during review process.
  • Serve as departmental representative on various committees and at meetings with internal departments. Represent the corporation at external meetings.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

What you need to succeed:

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Mathematics, Economics or related field; or an equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Five or more years of health data analysis, business analysis, software application, database design, and technical documentation experience, preferably in the health insurance industry
  • Three to five years management experience; or experience leading a team.
  • Five to Seven years health data analysis, business analysis, dashboard design, database design, and technical documentation experience, preferably in the healthcare insurance industry
  • Knowledge of healthcare quality HEDIS scores and STARS ratings
  • Minimum three years of SAS, SQL or Alteryx programming experience
  • Minimum three years of Power BI, Tableau or similar dashboarding and reporting tools experience
  • Minimum three years of experience working with large scale SQL Server or similar structured database platforms
  • Knowledge of industry standards for building analytics and reporting platform
  • Knowledge of industry standards for automating and standardizing analytical processes
  • Knowledge of claims processing and membership processing
  • Knowledge of CPT-4 and ICD-9 coding and covered benefits
  • Knowledge of general mathematical principals
  • Ability to coach and motivate to maximize performance
  • Ability to effectively communicate goals and business objectives to employees
  • Strong and effective decision-making skills
  • Strong organization and time management skills
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Suite of products (i.e., Word, Excel, PPT, etc.)
  • Ability to effectively interact with all levels of the organization
  • Ability to effectively delegate work and manage project tasks
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with ability to convey complex or technical information in an effective manner
  • Ability to convert business strategy into action-oriented objectives and measurable results
  • Strong negotiating, influencing, and consensus-building skills

Location:

BCBSRI is headquartered in downtown Providence, conveniently located near the train station and bus terminal. We actively support associate well-being and work/life balance and offer the following schedules, based on role:

  • In-office: onsite 5 days per week
  • Hybrid: onsite 2-4 days per week
  • Remote: onsite 0-1 days per week. Permitted to reside in the following states, pending approval from the Human Resources Department: Arizona, Florida, Georgia, Louisiana, North Carolina, Oklahoma, South Carolina, Texas, Rhode Island, Massachusetts, Connecticut and Virginia.
