Company Description

For more than 20 years, KordaMentha has supported businesses through some of their most complex matters and opportunities. Founder owned and led; we are an advisory firm that helps corporations, financiers, lawyers, private investors and government clients to grow, protect and recover value.

That’s what we do, but it’s how we do this that makes us who we are.

Proudly independent, strategically local, and with a bias for action to get things done, we focus on doing what is right by our clients, our people, and the wider community. Our track record shows that we help navigate the best path forward in challenging times, and do so across cities, regions and territories.

In the most stressful or demanding environments, we continue to drive change where it really counts.

Job Description

The opportunity

We are looking for a Manager to join our team in Auckland and take on varied, challenging work across our New Zealand practice.

The role has a strong focus on Forensic and Financial Crime matters, alongside opportunities to work across Performance Improvement and Infrastructure Advisory. It’s a chance to broaden your advisory experience, tackle complex client challenges and build strong relationships with senior stakeholders.

With ownership of engagements from end to end, you’ll lead delivery, manage and develop analysts, and keep projects moving. You’ll be joining a close-knit team that values initiative, sound judgement and the confidence to step into new challenges.

In this role you will:

  • Lead advisory engagements from scoping and planning through to delivery.
  • Manage teams and multiple workstreams, balancing hands-on delivery with oversight, coaching and quality control.
  • Work with clients to develop practical financial crime advice and strategies across a range of industries and be a key point of contact within an engagement.
  • Analyse financial and non-financial information, identify key issues and develop clear, practical recommendations.
  • Help clients understand and respond to financial crime risks, regulatory expectations and compliance obligations.
  • Build trusted relationships with clients, regulators, lawyers and other stakeholders, communicating complex issues clearly.
  • Support the development of junior team members through coaching, feedback and knowledge sharing.

Qualifications

What we are looking for

We are looking for a proactive professional with strong advisory foundations and the confidence to take ownership of engagements. You will be equally comfortable doing the hands-on work, guiding analysts and managing up, while building trusted relationships with clients and stakeholders.

You will bring:

  • Four to six years of experience in advisory, professional services or a related field, with broad exposure across different types of engagements.
  • Demonstrated experience managing projects or workstreams from planning through to delivery.
  • Strong critical thinking, problem-solving and analytical capability, with the learning agility to move quickly across new subject matter.
  • Clear written and verbal communication skills, with confidence engaging and influencing clients and stakeholders.
  • A proactive, practical and solutions-focused approach, with the ability to manage competing priorities and deadlines.
  • A genuine interest in Forensic and Financial Crime work and in building capability in this area.
  • A relevant tertiary qualification in business, law or a related field.
  • Financial crime qualifications, such as ACAMS or ICA certification, will be highly regarded but are not essential.
