The Manager also champions process automation, talent development, and a culture of continuous improvement in support of Alcon’s broader business and DEI priorities.

In this role, a typical day will include:

Revenue Accounting & Reporting

  • Oversee revenue accounting activities, ensuring compliance with IFRS 15 revenue recognition standards and seamless integration with Alcon’s internal accounting policies and procedures.

  • Review contracts with customers and ensure accurate recognition of revenue and management of associated balance sheet positions, including accruals, rebates, deductions, trade receivables, and other related accounts.

  • Lead a timely and precise month-end close process for all revenue-related areas, including preparation and review of journal entries, account reconciliations, and thorough variance analyses.

  • Review and validate revenue reporting within Alcon’s consolidation systems and other management reporting systems, ensuring consistency and alignment with both IFRS requirements and the Alcon Accounting Manual.

  • Proactively monitor the completeness and accuracy of revenue data, collaborating cross-functionally to resolve discrepancies and ensure the integrity of financial information.

Close, Controls & Compliance

  • Ensure full compliance with IFRS, the Alcon Accounting Manual (AMA), and internal control requirements—including Sarbanes-Oxley (SOX) regulations where applicable—by proactively monitoring and implementing relevant standards and policies.

  • Maintain and continuously enhance a robust internal control environment over revenue-related processes, ensuring comprehensive documentation of all key controls, procedures, and workflows in alignment with best practices.

  • Provide proactive support for internal and external audits by preparing thorough documentation, timely explanations, and detailed analytical support regarding revenue accounting matters, thereby facilitating efficient and effective audit processes.

  • Lead the timely identification, resolution, and remediation of reconciliation items to ensure accurate financial reporting and sustained compliance with internal and external requirements.

Business Partnering & Coordination

  • Foster strong collaboration with key stakeholders—including Local Finance, Business Planning & Analysis (BPA), Commercial teams, Consolidation & Reporting, and AGS—leveraging strong business knowledge to ensure accurate accounting treatment and comprehensive understanding of revenue drivers across multiple time zones and countries.

  • Serve as the primary point of contact for revenue-related accounting matters, providing expert guidance and well-substantiated accounting conclusions while managing intricate stakeholder relationships in a global context.

  • Drive alignment between financial reporting and business performance insights by proactively facilitating communication and knowledge sharing among diverse stakeholders, ensuring clarity and consistency across geographical regions.

  • Provide hands-on leadership in identifying and driving process improvement initiatives focused on increasing efficiency, automation, and standardization

  • Collaborate cross-functionally to lead or actively participate in projects designed to enhance data quality, improve reporting accuracy, and accelerate closing timelines.

  • Champion digitalization by supporting the implementation of new systems, tools, and accounting requirements, proactively adapting processes and reporting to align with evolving standards.

Team Leadership & Support
