You will develop and implement accounting practices and procedures for the Corporate Region. You will provide and interpret data from accounting records and coordinate accounting services and integrate them with operating needs. This role is responsible of managing and overseeing accounting activities which include improving processes as well as ensuring monthly, quarterly and annual activities are completed accurately and on a timely basis. This role may also include people management responsibilities as well as support marketing, manufacturing, leasing and payroll activities. Also accountable of setting up and monitor accounting KPIs and financial accounting objectives as well as its measurements.
How you will contribute
You will:

  • Manage elements of the monthly accounting close process including ensuring accurate and timely U.S. GAAP/local GAAP reporting and the timeliness and integrity of local financial reports, balance sheet reconciliations and KPIs. You will also provide insights into balance sheet movements and cash flow and support implementation of process change projects
  • Ensure a strong controls and compliance environment in your area of scope and ensure full compliance with our AER) policies
  • Coordinate accounting services and integrate them with operating needs. You will also provide and interpret data from accounting records as needed
  • Lead projects to drive for harmonization, efficiencies and improvements to ways of working on AER processes and systems such as SAP, CLM and FIT/HFM reporting tools and build a mindset of continuous improvement within the team. You will also lead implementation efforts on new accounting guidance
  • Build a high-performing Accounting and External Reporting (AER team (Mondelēz International employees and Mondelēz International Business Services business partner). Depending on the nature of the role, your job may involve recruiting and developing talent across AER and to drive our AER talent agenda globally

  • TECHNICAL EXPERTISE in accounting and external reporting including understanding of U.S. GAAP, IFRS or local GAAP, close processes and financial reporting systems. Expertise in policy, controls and compliance design including SOX reporting. General knowledge of tax laws and indirect and direct tax
  • BUSINESS ACUMEN and an understanding of our business and finance beyond accounting and external reporting scope
  • LEADERSHIP SKILLS including proven business partnering and communication skills. Experience of working as a finance leader managing cross-functional and business partner teams to drive timely and accurate results
  • GROWTH/DIGITAL MINDSET and the ability to identify strategic opportunities and leverage technology to improve operational efficiency and effectiveness
  • INTEGRITY and sound judgement in all decisions and interactions aligned with our values and policies and external regulations


In Accounting & External Reporting we are a team of experts dedicated to ensuring absolute integrity and accuracy of our financial data and reporting, delivering results with speed and data that enables insights for Enterprise Value Creation.
Job Responsibilities include:

  • Overall responsibility for HQ accounting and external reporting
  • Lead month-end close and balance sheet reviews for the Corporate ledgers, which include approximately 30 HFM entities
  • Oversee the accounting for MDLZ's Irish captive insurance entities, summarize complex journal entries for senior management
  • Review account reconciliations and analytics, supporting the resolution of issues
  • Review and approve a variety of different accounting transactions and collaborate with cross-functional teams, providing guidance as necessary
  • Lead the cash application team, ensuring all North American and HQ cash is applied timely, transactions are recorded to the correct account and issues are resolved
  • Liaison between our Mondelez business partners (Genpact) and Corporate business, acting as a point-of-contact and leading a team of 8-10 individuals
  • Adhere to abandoned property reporting requirements by sending out due diligence letters and submitting required documentation to the states
  • Ensure monthly and annual SOX requirements are met for accounting processes as well as support internal and external audits
  • Assist in the accounting for special projects (investment accounting, acquisitions, divestitures etc..)
  • Ensure US GAAP and company policies are adhered to for all transactions


Requirements:

  • Bachelor of Science and/or Business degree in Accounting or Finance, CPA is strongly preferred
  • 8 or more years of experience in various accounting areas
  • SAP experience strongly preferred
  • Strong experience in account analysis with a background in Blackline a plus
  • Technical expertise in accounting and external reporting including understanding of US GAAP or local GAAP, closing processes and financial reporting systems
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office tools and financial system knowledge (SAP, HFM, FIT)
  • Consumer Packaged Goods experience is strongly preferred
  • Experience within a multinational company or BIG 4 accounting firm
  • Knowledge in policy, controls and compliance design including SOX reporting
  • Strong team player who manages collaboratively with all stakeholders
  • Leadership skills including proven business partnering and communication skills
  • Experience working as a leader managing cross-functional and business partner relationships to drive timely and accurate results
  • Strong communication skills and team player
  • Strong experience in balance sheet account analysis.
  • Independence and self-motivated
  • Demonstrated experience in process management and process improvement
  • Need to be able to handle/analyze large amounts of complex data
