We are looking for you to join our team as a Program Planning and Scheduling Manager 2 based out of Sunnyvale, CA. This is an onsite position that offers the 9/80 schedule.

What You’ll Get to Do:
The Program Planning & Scheduling Manager 2 will become part of the Northrop Grumman Mission Systems (MS) Sector, Program Scheduling and Compliance Center of Excellence. The MS scheduling organization focuses on skill development and, most importantly, creates a pathway for professional development and progression. The Center of Excellence provides training within a standard, common tool suite that allows for speed, productivity and integration while facilitating compliance and focusing on program execution.
This position reports to the Manager of Program Planning for our Marine Systems Business Unit in Sunnyvale, CA. The Program Planning & Scheduling Manager 2 will be responsible for leading a department with multiple program schedulers and will provide guidance and direction in the preparation and coordination of plans and integrated schedules for new and existing programs. The Manager will also be a partner with Program Management and Business Management leadership at the Sunnyvale site.
Roles and responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following:
- Manage all scheduling efforts and schedule baselines
- Provide site schedulers with day-to-day hands on support, guidance, troubleshooting, and satisfying Programmatic requirements
- Function as a change agent, creating an environment of trust, compliance, continuous improvement and learning
- Project management including managing multiple priorities against ambitious timelines
- Support/coordination of internal and external surveillance audits
- Ensure full compliance with corporate and sector scheduling processes and procedures, with particular focus on implementation of the NGMS Earned Value Management System
- Provide support to bids, bid reviews, integrated baseline reviews, and internal projects
- Advise business managers in integrating project schedules with Earned Value Management
- Attend site business management meetings to define schedule needs and work with sector scheduling management on resource allocation needs
- Assist sector scheduling group in evaluating goals and objectives for site schedulers
As Manager of a scheduling group, the selected candidate must demonstrate leadership qualities. It is the expectation of someone in a management position to bring their team together to foster collaboration and reach customer and company success, not only for the mission, but for each employee as well. We expect leaders to understand, manage and drive top performance through employee engagement.
Basic Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree or higher with 8 years of related experience or a Master’s degree with 6 years of related experience.
- Will consider 12 years of related experience in lieu of degree requirement
- 4 years of hands-on experience in Program Planning / Scheduling utilizing Microsoft Project.
- Strong understanding of project management and earned-value management principles and their application to complex projects.
- Proficiency in MS Office Programs (MS Project, MS PowerPoint, MS Excel, MS Word).
- Experience using Schedule Health Analysis and Monte Carlo schedule risk assessment tools
- The ability to travel domestically 10% of the time.
- US Citizenship is required.
- Ability to obtain and maintain a DoD Secret security clearance
Preferred Qualifications:
- Degree in a Business Administration or Engineering related field
- Experience in a DOD manufacturing or engineering development environment
- Production scheduling experience and familiarity with MRP
- Familiarity with Earned Value tools (Cobra, etc.)
- Experience in applying integrated cost/schedule and critical path methodologies within an Earned Value (EVMS) environment.
- Familiarity with the NDIA's Planning and Scheduling Excellence Guide.
- Experience in Aerospace and/or Defense programs and familiarity with Integrated Program Management Data and Analysis Report (IPMDAR).
- Current, active DoD Secret security clearance

Primary Level Salary Range: $146,600.00 - $219,800.00The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives.
