Description
As a Managed Services Configuration Associate, you will prepare phones, tablets, and Windows laptops so customers can use them when they arrive. That means following a build sheet hundreds of times per day, installing software, enrolling devices in the customer's management system, checking connections and settings, testing, labeling, and recording the results. You also work on returns, replacements, and devices being prepared for reuse.
This is hands-on, repetitive, detail-heavy work with high device volumes, different customer requirements, and changing priorities. You are expected to move efficiently without cutting corners. This is not just packing boxes, and it is not a role where you design technical solutions. Success means devices work, records are complete, deadlines are met, and mistakes are caught before shipping.
Experience Needed:
Required
- Hands-on experience setting up or supporting devices through work, school, or technical training.
- Familiarity with Windows laptop setup and basic Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, and cellular connectivity.
- You must demonstrate that you can follow written instructions, configure and test a device, check routine problems, and keep accurate records in a practical exercise.
Helpful, not required:
- Device-management platforms such as Intune or Jamf, Windows imaging, large device rollouts, and relevant IT certifications.
- Training is provided for customer-specific tools.
- Advanced technical expertise is not required; warehouse experience alone is not enough.
3 Most Important Skills to be Successful in this Role
- Process-driven rule follower. You follow the customer's written instructions every time, even when you have done the job before. No skipped steps, guessed settings, or unapproved shortcuts. Flag unclear instructions and never release a device that fails required checks.
- Resourceful troubleshooter. You do not pass every routine problem to someone else. Use approved checks, test likely causes in a logical order, and document what you find. Escalate when the issue exceeds your training or access. Resourcefulness is not permission to improvise.
- Disciplined documenter. Record device and SIM identifiers, completed steps, test results, and anything that went wrong. Your notes must show what failed, what you tried, and what happened so the next person can act. If the records are incomplete, the work is incomplete.
Skills Required
- 2+ years of hands-on experience in managed services, MSP, enterprise mobility, endpoint deployment, desktop support, service desk, device lifecycle services, IT support, or a similar technical environment
