This role is at Spirit AeroSystems, Inc. a wholly owned subsidiary of The Boeing Company, supporting Spirit's Commercial Business Units ("Spirit Commercial"). Spirit Commercial designs and builds commercial aerostructures, including for Boeing Commercial Airplanes, one of Boeing's three business units and the premier manufacturer of commercial jetliners for decades. Spirit Commercial's core products include fuselages, pylons, nacelles and wing components, with a focus on innovative composite and aluminium manufacturing solutions.
Position Responsibilities:
- Manages schedule of aircraft component repairs and overhauls in relation to the availability of personnel, skills, tools, equipment, parts, materials, and required work areas consistent with the customer contracted delivery schedule and cost forecasts
- Oversees work operations required and the tooling, equipment, materials, employee skills, and hours necessary for their accomplishment
- Plans, recommends, and coordinates the sequencing and allocation of workload for efficient use of staff, skills, and space
- Supervises non-routine work into scheduled workload; assigns jobs according to the skills, experience, and training of mechanics; develops requirement forecasts; investigates the recoverability of parts and components and determines appropriate repair or overhaul processes. Reviews job progress and makes adjustments to planned schedule to meet changing workload conditions
- Responsibility for development and presentation of production and business metrics, to include: Units in process, inventory, component repairs and overhaul status/history, and current and projected workloads, progress to plan
- Personnel performance and workforce management
Required:
- Must have a minimum of 3 years of experience in a leadership/supervisory role in operations management
- Must have experience in both metal structure and composite repair
- Must have demonstrated understanding of applying Lean tools
- Must have experience in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook
- Must have good written and verbal communication skills
Preferred:
- Bachelor's degree in Business, Aviation, Engineering, or related field
- FAA Airframe certificate or be eligible to receive a FAA Repairman Certificate for Structures & Composites
- Working knowledge of SAP
