Seeking a Mainframe Systems Manager to oversee the mainframe systems team, manage workload distribution, and provide technical leadership in supporting the IBM mainframe computer system. program products, and subsystems.
The Mainframe Systems Manager will be responsible to:
• Oversee, lead, and manage a team of system programmers, including day-to-day operations, scheduling, task delegation, performance management, and setting team and individual goals.
• Plan and coordinate upgrades for mainframe hardware such as mainframe processors, DASO, and VTS systems.
• Research, evaluate, and implement strategic technological solutions to modernize and optimize mainframe systems.
• Oversee all aspects of daily mainframe operations, including monitoring, incident response, change management, and project intake.
• Work effectively with your manager, peer managers, external agencies, and technical support staff, including documenting and explaining technical issues clearly.
• Complete team projects by coordinating team resources and collaborating with other departments and the data center.
• Plan work, manage timelines, and provide accurate status updates as required.
• Support staff in learning new technologies quickly and resolving issues efficiently.
Preferred Qualifications:
• Possess 1O+ years of experience working as a mainframe manager in a med to large-scale enterprise environment.
• Demonstrate strong expertise with mainframe technologies including z/OS, CICS, D82, IMS.
• Demonstrate strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work well in a team environment.
• Show initiative, self-motivation, and the ability to independently find answers and solutions.
• Willingness to work after hours, weekends, and maintain 24/7 availability and responsiveness when required.
• Ensure adherence to all CLIENT technical policies, standards, and security requirements.
• Exhibit excellent oral, written, organizational, and interpersonal communication skills.
• Experience with enterprise monitoring tools such as OMEGAMON, SMF analytics.
• Experience supporting disaster recovery planning, testing, and execution.
• Knowledge of mainframe security frameworks.
• Experience collaborating with storage, network, and data center operations teams.
• Ability to drive modernization initiatives including automation, performance tuning, and workload optimization.
Minimum Qualification Requirements:
1.A baccalaureate degree from an accredited college in computer science, engineering or a related field and four years of satisfactory full-time experience related to datacenter engineering and operations, cloud engineering and operations, complex IT infrastructure engineering; or,
2.A baccalaureate degree from an accredited college and eight years of satisfactory full-time experience related to datacenter engineering and operations, cloud engineering and operations, complex IT infrastructure engineering; or,
3.Education and/or experience which is equivalent to "1" or"2" above.
