Mainframe DB2/MQ System Administrator

Job Description:

• Maintain the DB2 subsystem procs and JCL
• Execution of backups of DB2 system catalog and directory files with reorgs
• Basic change management functions: ticketing, opening and closing changes, etc.
• Performing Data Security audits (collecting evidence of compliance, correcting non-compliances fount in an audit)
• Install, upgrade DB2 subsystems. 
• Installation of new DB2 subsystems and related sub products Upgrades of existing DB2 subsystems and related sub products
• Application of preventative/corrective maintenance PTF's and HIPER PTF's on test and production system software libraries
• Enforcement of DB2 security and audit conformance Perform Disaster Recovery drill exercises
• Understand basic parameters contained in DSNZPARM and their usage
• Regular system tuning, and review of memory/resource consumption based on daily performance reporting and on-line monitoring
• Interface with Change Support, and vendor software support as necessary to resolve system software problems or issues
• Work with Automation to provide automation responding to system situations requiring intervention Tune and manage DB2 bufferpool settings
• Develop complex DB2 configurations needed for SYSPLEX environments and DataSharing environments Lead complex projects including client driven projects and internal projects (upgrade projects, etc) deliverables (collectively, the “Deliverables”):

MQ Skills & responsibilities:

• Maintain the MQSeries subsystem procs and JCL
• Backup of MQSeries system components
• Basic change management functions: ticketing, opening and closing changes, etc.
• Performing Data Security audits (collecting evidence of compliance, correcting noncompliances fount in an audit)
• Creation/installation of new MQSeries subsystems and related sub products
• Upgrades of existing MQSeries subsystems and related sub products
• Define and configure MQ Pageset, point the storage class to the Pageset, Turn over storage class name to the Account MQ Admin, allocate channels, define buffer pools, control security rules for processes
• Application of preventative/corrective maintenance PTF's and HIPER PTF's on test and production system software libraries
• Enforcement of MQSeries security and audit conformance
• Installation of Network connectivity on Mainframe side
• Set up for Disaster recovery of pagesets, logs, bootstrap datasets and related MQSeries and sub product system software components
• Perform Disaster Recovery drill exercises
• Support of MQSeries Distributed Queue Management

Work Environment

This position combines remote work with in-office days at our Toronto location.

• 24 x 7 on call support - rotation
