Job Summary
A machinist is a skilled worker who operates machinery to create or modify metal parts used in manufacturing processes. They read and interpret blueprints, set up and operate machine tools such as lathes, milling machines, and grinders, and use precision measuring instruments to ensure parts meet specifications. Machinists may also perform routine maintenance on machines, troubleshoot issues, and make adjustments as needed. Follows established work procedures for fabricating and/or repairing large rock crushing and structural equipment. Plans maintenance and repair schedule. Repairs to equipment parts specifically for aggregate equipment used in mining, construction or quarrying.
Essential Functions
• Fabricating and/or repairing large rock crushing and structural equipment.
• Plans machining by work orders, blue prints, engineering plans, materials or other specifications.
• Programs, sets up and adjusts mills and lathes and many advanced variation tools to perform precision machining operations. May load, feed, align and secure mechanism with an overhead crane.
• Visually observes and listens to operating machines and equipment to diagnose malfunctions and ensure operational efficiency. May prepare work sketches and design fixtures, tooling and experimental parts to meet needs.
• Working closely with engineers, supervisors, and other team members to optimize machining processes, resolve issues, and ensure smooth workflow.
• Maintains safe operations by adhering to all safety regulations and procedures.

• High School Diploma/GED or an equivalent combination of training and work experience.
Experience
• Vocational training, apprenticeship, or relevant work experience in machining, with a focus on heavy machinery or aggregate equipment, is often preferred.

• Must be able to machine parts to dimensional specifications from blueprints and hand drawings.

• Travel to other facilities maybe required.
