As a Machinist V, you will support Aero and Machine Shop operations by operating large CNC and manual lathes, Vertical Turning Lathes (VTLs), and milling machines. You will manufacture and repair gas turbine, steam turbine, and aero-engine components while maintaining tight tolerances and meeting OEM requirements and specifications.
You will interpret technical drawings and machining requirements, perform complex machining operations, and ensure quality execution of repair and manufacturing activities that support critical customer equipment.
As a Machinist V, you will be responsible for:
Supporting a strong safety culture and promoting a safe-to-start mindset in all operations.
Aligning large rotors, gas turbine components, and parts within tight tolerances for machining, grinding, and runout corrections.
Programming CNC lathes, VTLs, and milling machines to support production and repair activities.
Reading and interpreting OEM drawings, Repair Engineering Instructions (REIs), work instructions, and digital routers.
Applying Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T) principles to machining and inspection activities.
Calculating and setting machining parameters including speed, feed, coolant flow, depth of cut, and cutting angles.
Entering, retrieving, and editing CNC machine programs and control media.
Monitoring machine operations to identify malfunctions or out-of-tolerance conditions and making necessary adjustments.
Selecting, aligning, and securing fixtures, cutting tools, attachments, accessories, and materials on mills, lathes, and grinding equipment.
Supporting machining, repair, and refurbishment activities while meeting OEM specifications and quality requirements.
To be successful in this role you will:
Have a High School Diploma or equivalent.
Have 10+ years of related machining experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Demonstrate advanced to expert-level machining skills across CNC and manual equipment.
Have experience performing OD turning, ID turning, grinding, and burnishing operations.
Demonstrate proficiency operating CNC mills, CNC lathes, manual mills, manual lathes, and manual VTLs.
Be able to calculate machining feed rates, speeds, and setup requirements.
Support Rotor Shop and Machine Shop operations based on customer requirements.
Have experience machining steam rotors, gas rotors, cases, gas turbine components, aero components, and value rack repairs.
Demonstrate the ability to operate both manual and CNC machining equipment.
Have experience supporting gas turbine repair operations, including HSPT, GE10, Frame 3, Frame 5, Frame 6, and Frame 7 rotors and component machining (preferred).
Physical Requirements
Ability to stand and walk for extended periods during the workday.
Ability to safely lift and move machining tools, fixtures, and components as required.
Ability to work around large rotating equipment and industrial machinery.
Ability to wear required personal protective equipment (PPE) in manufacturing and shop environments.
Ability and willingness to work overtime and alternate shifts based on business needs.
