Help Build the Next Products Our Neighbors Will Trust.

Every product starts as an idea. Your job is to help bring that idea to life.

At etrailer, you'll collaborate with engineers and designers to turn ideas into working prototypes and help shape products from concept to production. As a Machinist-Fabricator on our Product Development team, you'll build, test, improve, and refine innovative products while helping determine how they're manufactured for years to come.

This isn't a traditional production machining role. Every project presents a new challenge, giving you the opportunity to solve problems, work with a variety of equipment, and directly influence product development. As etrailer continues to grow, you'll help create products that make our neighbors' journeys safer, easier, and more memorable while contributing to the future of our own product lines.

What You Will Do
  • Build prototypes from engineering drawings, CAD files, sketches, and concepts using a variety of fabrication and machining equipment.
  • Collaborate with engineers and designers to solve manufacturing challenges, improve product designs, and bring new ideas to life.
  • Operate and maintain fabrication equipment including manual mills, lathes, brake presses, plasma tables, welders, and other shop equipment.
  • Support product development through prototype fabrication, small production runs, equipment modifications, and a variety of special projects across the business.
  • Recommend improvements to shop equipment, tooling, fabrication methods, and manufacturing processes that improve efficiency and quality.
  • Manage multiple projects while maintaining exceptional craftsmanship, organization, and attention to detail.
  • Build innovative products, solve meaningful challenges, and have some fun while doing work that makes a lasting impact.
What Makes Someone Successful in This Role
  • You enjoy building things and solving problems that don't always have a straightforward answer.
  • You're experienced with fabrication, machining, welding, and prototype development, and you're always interested in learning new skills and techniques.
  • You think beyond making a part and naturally consider how products can be manufactured efficiently at scale.
  • You communicate well and enjoy collaborating with engineers, designers, and teammates to solve complex challenges.
  • You're highly organized and capable of balancing multiple projects without sacrificing quality or craftsmanship.
  • You take ownership of your work, pay close attention to detail, and enjoy seeing projects through from concept to completion.
  • Experience with manual machining, welding, fabrication, prototype development, manufacturing, or product development is highly valued.
Who This Role Is For

This role is ideal for someone who enjoys creating rather than simply producing. You'll have the opportunity to build products that don't exist yet, collaborate with engineers to solve real-world challenges, and influence designs before they ever reach production.

If you're energized by variety, craftsmanship, continuous learning, and seeing your ideas come to life, you'll find plenty of opportunities to grow while helping shape the future of etrailer's product development.

Benefits

etrailer offers a comprehensive benefits package including medical, dental, vision, 401(k), paid time off, paid holidays, and more.

If you're looking for more than another machining or fabrication position and want the opportunity to build innovative products, solve meaningful challenges, and see your work make an impact from concept to production, we'd love to hear from you.

Skills Required

  • Read and build from engineering drawings and CAD files
  • Operate and maintain manual mills, lathes, brake presses, plasma tables, welders, and other shop equipment
  • Prototype fabrication and support for small production runs
  • Strong craftsmanship, attention to detail, organization, and ability to manage multiple projects
  • Collaborate and communicate effectively with engineers and designers
  • Experience with manual machining, welding, fabrication, prototype development, manufacturing, or product development

What We Do

etrailer.com is the world's leading online retailer of custom-fit towing accessories. Our company dates back to 1946 when we were founded by Henry Bross as a small family business. First an R.V. park and then a service station with the intention of serving the local neighborhood, a need for quality parts and accessories at an affordable price quickly became apparent. The company began growing to serve an ever-larger market, and in 1976 we constructed a massive new showroom, warehouse, and installation facility that quickly became a regional destination. Customers began traveling from all of the surrounding states to get the supplies they needed and were unable to find locally, or for a fair price. We carry thousands of vehicle accessories such as custom-fit trailer hitches for over 3,100 different vehicles, performance chips, heavy-duty towing supplies, trailer parts, bike racks, cargo carriers, step bars, tonneau covers, lights, car covers, RV supplies, floor mats, and much more, to help you make your vehicle more useful and more fun. Our decades of experience and enormous buying power ensure that you will get quality parts, and excellent service, at the lowest price possible.
