JOB TITLE: MACHINING MANAGER         

REPORTS TO: VP OF OPERATIONS                DIRECT REPORTS: YES

POSITION SUMMARY

The Machining Manager is responsible for the strategic and operational leadership of the Machining Department, overseeing all machining functions to ensure safety, quality, efficiency, and on‑time delivery. This role drives departmental performance by managing personnel, equipment, processes, and continuous improvement initiatives aligned with company objectives. 

The Machining Manager ensures production goals are met, optimizes workflow and resource utilization.  This role is also responsible in developing a high‑performing team through coaching, training, and effective performance management. In collaboration with cross‑functional partners, this leader shapes production strategies, supports process modernization, and fosters a culture of accountability, improvement, and operational excellence.

JOB SKILL REQUIREMENTS

•    Strong understanding of machining processes, engineering drawings, and GD&T.
•    Demonstrated leadership experience in a manufacturing environment.
•    Proficient in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word) and MRP/ERP systems.
•    Strong communication skills, both oral and written.
•    Highly organized, detail‑oriented, and able to manage multiple priorities in a fast‑paced environment.
•    Proven problem-solving skills and ability to drive continuous improvement.
•    Professional, dependable, and adaptable with strong attendance and reliability.
•    Ability to collaborate effectively across departments and work under pressure.
•    Knowledge of Lean Manufacturing, 5S, and participation in improvement projects.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES  

•    Manage day‑to‑day operations of the Machining Department, including machinists, leads, operators, and programmers across all shifts.
•    Collaborate with Scheduling and Customer Service to meet all commitment dates.
•    Ensure cycle times, yields, quality, and departmental deliverables meet or exceed company cost‑reduction and productivity goals.
•    Verify material, tooling, and resources are available prior to scheduled production; communicate purchasing needs.
•    Lead training, coaching, and performance management for direct reports.
•    Conduct performance reviews in accordance with company standards.
•    Troubleshoot machining processes and optimize parameters to reduce scrap and improve throughput.
•    Maintain inventory control processes and organize equipment, tools, and materials.
•    Interpret complex engineering drawings and GD&T to ensure product quality.
•    Recommend staffing levels, equipment upgrades, calibrations, and process improvements.
•    Support Lean Manufacturing, 5S, Kaizen, and other continuous improvement activities.
•    Contribute to decisions related to hiring, discipline, and employee development.
•    Monitor and support department budget objectives, including overtime and spending.

EMPLOYEE RESPONSIBILITIES  

•    Uphold and comply with Demgy’s Code of Ethics and Conduct      
•    Follow safety policies
•    Contribute to the success of the company’s environmental, health & safety program
•    Maintain a positive working relationship with co-workers in all departments
•    Maintain accurate documentation as required, following Demgy Pacific’s document and record control procedures as applicable to the position
•    Ensure that housekeeping within the department is properly maintained.  
•    Follow Demgy 5S program (workstation organization/locations maintained)  
•    Follow policies outlined in the Employee Handbook
•    Perform other duties as directed by the supervisor
 

Qualifications

MINIMUM EDUCATION AND QUALIFICATIONS 

•    Minimum five (5) years of experience setting up and running CNC and manual mills and lathes (3, 4, and 5-axis), required
•    Minimum three (3) years of proven aerospace manufacturing leadership experience coordinating, supervising, managing, and developing a high performing              team, required
•    Understanding of ERP systems and inventory control processes, required
•    High school diploma or equivalent
