Job Summary
The Machine Technician/Operator will play a critical role in running developmental and upscaling tests on different production equipment and operating them during regular production schedules. This role is responsible for preparing, operating, and maintaining production equipment used for finishing and embossing MycoWorks products.
Key responsibilities include executing manufacturing and upscaling trials, adapting to unexpected product characteristics or process variables, and identifying opportunities for process optimization to enhance product quality.
Responsibilities:
- Operate and run production tests on the company’s finishing and embossing lines, and other equipment as necessary.
- Assist the product development team to define production test parameters and execute regular production runs.
- Apply defined chemical recipes and process conditions during tests and production.
- Organize and maintain finishing and embossing lines, including auxiliary materials.
- Review and evaluate current chemical supply performance for finishing and embossing, supporting the onboarding of new suppliers as needed.
- Maintain regular communication with the finishing expert based in the Netherlands to coordinate new trials and modifications to existing processes.
- Map production trends, interpret production statistics, and analyze quality exceptions to troubleshoot deviations from targets.
- Conduct daily meetings to track various material production development and quality metrics.
- Support production in ensuring that finished products meet established quality standards and customer specifications, including hands-on testing of material when necessary.
- Produce reports detailing findings and performance evaluations of production processes.
- Work with cross-functional teams to identify business requirements and lead process improvement initiatives.
- Perform additional tasks within the scope of the role as needed to support operational requirements.
- Communicate with tannery partner on a regular basis, including providing feedback and data collection
Qualifications:
- Professional qualification in manufacturing, production, or a related discipline, or equivalent relevant experience.
- Minimum of 2 years’ experience as a machine operator or production technician in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
- Experience in high-volume manufacturing industries such as apparel, footwear, or automotive components.
- Experience in applying and evaluating coatings on materials (textiles, other polymeric substrates, metal foils,...) , including knowledge of coating processes and their impact on material properties.
- Equipment troubleshooting experience including mechanical and electrical
- Familiarity with continuous production machinery, finishing and embossing lines for leather and textile products preferred.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English and Spanish.
- Strong organizational and time-management skills.
- Commitment to quality and safety standards.
- Proficient in Google Workspace and statistical analysis tools.
- Adaptability and flexibility are essential, as this is a role within Product Development with consistently evolving challenges
- Ability to move between tannery partner site and MycoWorks office throughout the day, depending on project needs
- Meticulous attention to detail and a proactive, results-oriented approach.
