Role Summary: The Machine Operator I handles production duties in a positive, fast growth business environment with high ethical standards and team accountability. The machine operator will accurately perform repetitive work assigned by Production Management to complete a task involved in producing, assembling, inspecting, or testing a product while operating lines and adhering to all factory safety guidelines, and regulatory/certification standards. Due to safety, communication, and operational requirements, fluency in English—speaking, reading, writing, and comprehension—is mandatory.
Essential Functions & Responsibilities:
- Ability to operate at least one of the following machines: bagger, over wrap, or carton lines.
- Operate the case sealer and palletize finished goods.
- Perform in line quality inspections of manufactured goods to ensure quality standards are achieved.
- Troubleshoot and perform basic machine adjustments to achieve daily output requirements and reduce process waste.
- Execute daily production schedule.
- Ensure machine uptime and efficiency through feeding of raw materials.
- Properly document and label pallets with correct documentation prior to placing in warehouse.
- Identify and communicate continuous improvement opportunities focused on safety, quality, cost, and delivery.
- Report any damage or unusual conditions of the product or machinery immediately to your supervisor for corrective actions.
- Ability to execute machine set-ups and product changeovers.
- Ensure that all rework (Defects) are accurately and promptly documented.
- Follow and assist in development of production Standard Operating Procedures (SOP)
- Operate in accordance with EarthKind’s safety and workplace organization procedures.
- Other duties as assigned.
Knowledge & Skills:
Experience 6 months – 1 year of general production line manufacturing experience.
Knowledge of goods manufacturing processes.
Knowledge of general safety procedures.
Education Highschool Diploma or GED.
Production Associate Certificates required or must be obtained within eight (8) weeks of start date: stapling, overwrap filling, carton filling, carton boxing, palletizing, and pallet jack.
Interpersonal
Skills This role requires strong teamwork, effective communication, and adaptability to ensure
smooth production processes and meet safety and quality standards. The ability to take initiative, solve problems, and maintain accountability for tasks, including machine operation and documentation, is essential for success in this role.
Other Skills Basic math and reasoning skills.
Ability to work independently with minimal guidance.
Physical
Requirements Must be fluent in English (speaking, reading, writing, and comprehension). This is
essential for safely operating equipment, understanding and interpreting manuals,
documenting procedures, and communicating effectively with team members and
supervisors.
Ability to read, write, and comprehend instructions and numbering.
Hearing with normal ranges is helpful for normal conversations.
Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
Ability to stand for long periods on solid surfaces.
Ability to periodically kneel, stoop, crouch, or crawl.
The employee lifts and/or moves up to 50 pounds.
Work
Environment Able to withstand temperatures in a typical warehouse manufacturing environment.
Exposed to dust, odors, oils, cleaning solutions, lubricants, and noise.
