Job Description

Utilize industrial grinders, precision measuring tools, and optical comparators to produce tungsten carbide rolls meeting product specifications and Company objectives.

Essential Functions

  • Utilize grinding machines to manufacture tungsten carbide rolls to blueprints and work instructions.
  • Select, dress, and mount grinding wheel according to specification using hand tools and applying knowledge of abrasives and grinding procedures.
  • Monitor machine operations and operate more than one machine, as needed.
  • Calculate dimensions and tolerances using measuring devices, ensuring that surfaces and measurements meet specifications.
  • Read blueprints and utilize hand tools.
  • Abide by safety policies and procedures to ensure safe work practices.
  • Communicate with coworkers, management, customers, and others in a courteous and professional manner. 
  • Conform with and abide by all Company regulations, policies, work procedures, and instructions.
  • Perform other duties as directed by the Production Supervisor, Operations Manager, and/or President & CEO.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Familiarity with machine tools and equipment such as forklift, cranes, and lifting devices
  • Solid analytical and mathematical skills
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Available to work rotating shifts

Minimum Experience and Training

  • High school diploma or equivalent; and
  • Minimum of one-year experience as a machine operator in a manufacturing environment.

Additional Information

Physical Demands

This role requires standing for the majority of each shift; however, the employee may occasionally sit, climb, kneel, stoop and/or crouch as necessary. Must be able to safely lift up to 50 pounds infrequently, as required.
