About the team:
Materra is on a mission to radically reduce global waste and move to a true circular economy. The team has developed technology that identifies waste material at the molecular level—starting with plastics. Materra works with industry partners to improve the way recycling centers process plastics using AI and robotics, to make recycling more affordable and scalable.
About the role:
Materra is looking for a Software Engineer with practical experience developing C++ systems that communicate with hardware sensors.
Our team seeks to generate actionable insights from data from different sources, working directly with industry partners to provide immediate real-world impact.
How you will make 10X Impact:
- Design, implement, and improve performant C++ systems that process and organize data from multiple hardware sources
- Design, implement, and improve algorithms for deriving insights on chemical data using a broad array of state-of-the-art deep learning methods.
- Rapidly develop system prototypes to evaluate feasibility
- Strong end-to-end ownership of the software infrastructure
- Build scalable data pipelines for training AI
- Work effectively with cross-functional teams of engineers, scientists, and domain experts
- Work with collaborators across X and Alphabet (e.g. Google, DeepMind, Cloud, , etc.) to apply, modify, and develop new ideas, techniques, algorithms, and tools as needed.
What you should have:
- MS/PhD in Computer Science or demonstrable practical experience in the field
- 3-5 years experience writing software that interacts with a variety of asynchronous hardware sensors
