Job Overview:
Select Event Group is seeking an experienced, hands-on Second Shift Production Supervisor (12:30PM-9:00PM) to lead and support our manufacturing team in the production of tents, fabric structures, vinyl products, and other custom-fabricated products. This is a working supervisor position responsible for leading employees, maintaining production schedules, enforcing safety standards, ensuring product quality, and supporting daily manufacturing operations. The successful candidate must be willing and able to actively participate in production operations, train employees, troubleshoot manufacturing issues, maintain quality standards, and operate equipment when production demands require.The ideal candidate will have leadership experience in a manufacturing environment along with hands-on experience working with industrial fabrics, awnings, canvas products, tensile structures, industrial sewing, vinyl welding, or similar custom-fabricated products.
Duties & Responsibilities:
- Lead and supervise production employees
- Monitor daily production schedules and ensure on-time completion of work
- Train, coach, and develop production team members
- Maintain quality standards and drive continuous improvement
- Coordinate workflow between cutting, vinyl welding, sewing, fabrication, and finishing operations
- Enforce safety standards and company policies
- Troubleshoot production issues and implement solutions
- Track labor efficiency, productivity, and quality metrics
- Assist with staffing, onboarding, and performance management
- Support employee development and cross-training initiatives
Leadership & Technical Responsibilities
- Train operators and production employees on equipment, processes, quality standards, and safe work practices
- Maintain quality control standards and ensure finished products meet company and customer requirements
- Troubleshoot manufacturing, sewing, vinyl welding, fabrication, and assembly issues as they arise
- Develop employees through coaching, mentoring, cross-training, and hands-on instruction
- Monitor workflow and make real-time production decisions to keep schedules on track
- Provide technical guidance regarding manufacturing methods, materials, equipment, and production techniques
- Support production activities directly and operate equipment when necessary to meet production demands
- Lead by example in safety, quality, productivity, attendance, and workmanship standards
- Identify opportunities for process improvement and implement corrective actions when needed
- Promote accountability while fostering a positive and team-oriented work environment
Required Qualifications
- 3+ years of manufacturing supervisory experience
- Demonstrated experience training production employees and maintaining quality standards
- Proven ability to lead and motivate production teams
- Experience in a fast-paced custom manufacturing environment
- Strong communication and organizational skills
- Working knowledge of industrial sewing, vinyl welding, fabric fabrication, awning manufacturing, tent manufacturing, marine canvas fabrication, or similar custom manufacturing processes
- Ability to read production drawings, specifications, and work instructions
- Ability to troubleshoot manufacturing and quality issues in a production environment
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications
- Willingness and ability to work hands-on in the production area when required
Preferred Industry Experience
Experience in one or more of the following industries is strongly preferred:
- Tent manufacturing
- Commercial awning manufacturing
- Residential awning manufacturing
- Fabric structures and tensile architecture
- Marine canvas fabrication
- Sign and banner manufacturing utilizing vinyl welding processes
- Custom fabric and membrane fabrication
- Upholstery manufacturing
- Soft goods manufacturing
- Industrial sewing operations
Physical Requirements
- Ability to stand, walk, bend, and lift throughout the workday
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds with or without assistance
- Ability to work safely around industrial manufacturing equipment
- Ability to work in a fast-paced production environment
