JOB SUMMARY:
In the absence of the regular classroom teacher, the Substitute Teacher helps students to learn subject matter and/or skills that are required for scheduled lessons and provides meaningful instruction for assigned classrooms.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS & TASKS:

Reports to the division office before the beginning of school day (7:40am) to pick up required materials/schedule of classes and at the end of the school day to return materials.

Follows sign out procedures as assigned by the Division personnel.

Guide students through minor technical issues.

Carries out a program of study prescribed in the lesson plans left by the classroom teacher.

Creates a classroom environment that is conducive to learning and appropriate to the maturity and interests of the students.

Guides the learning process toward the achievement of curriculum goals and objectives as indicated in the lesson plans for the lessons, units, or projects assigned.

Maintains a neat and orderly classroom.Takes attendance in accordance with school procedures.

Ensures that the students are never left unattended in the classroom.

May perform duties usually required of absent teacher such as lunch duty, recess duty, etc.

Knows emergency evacuation routes for the classrooms assigned.

Responsible for supporting students in making positive behavior choices.

Knows school procedures and regulations such as how to manage a field evacuation or a weather alert.

Performs other related duties as directed by Division personnel.

Adheres to established Miami Country Day School policies described in the MCDS Employee Handbook.
PAY RATE:
- Half Day: $75
- Full Day: $135
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, & ABILITIES:
- High School Diploma, Associate's Degree or working towards Bachelor's (preferred); experience and skill in specific relevant field of study that applies to the classroom.
- Demonstrate an understanding of the needs of diverse constituencies within the school community and the skills and attitude to deliver an exemplary experience equitably to all students.
- Strong understanding of child development and best practices
- Ability to maintain order and positive classroom environment using age-appropriate classroom management techniques in a classroom
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills
- Ability to constantly monitor the safety and well-being of students.
