Role Summary:
We are seeking an experienced Looker Developer with 5+ years of expertise in designing, developing, and maintaining enterprise-scale Business Intelligence and analytics solutions using Looker. The ideal candidate will have strong experience in LookML development, data modeling, SQL optimization, and dashboard creation. You will work closely with business stakeholders, data engineers, analysts, and product teams to deliver scalable, reliable, and user-friendly reporting solutions that drive data-driven decision-making. The role requires a deep understanding of modern data warehousing concepts, BI best practices, and cloud-based analytics platforms.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Design, develop, and maintain scalable BI solutions using Looker and LookML.
  • Create and manage LookML models, views, explores, dimensions, measures, and derived tables to support business reporting requirements.
  • Develop interactive dashboards, reports, and visualizations that provide actionable insights to business users.
  • Collaborate with data engineers and architects to define data models and ensure data consistency across reporting environments.
  • Optimize Looker performance through efficient SQL queries, aggregate awareness, caching strategies, and data model tuning.
  • Work with stakeholders to gather reporting requirements and translate business needs into technical solutions.
  • Build reusable semantic layers and governed data models that promote self-service analytics across the organization.
  • Ensure data accuracy, integrity, and consistency across dashboards and reports.
  • Implement row-level security, user access controls, and governance policies within Looker.
  • Integrate Looker with cloud data warehouses such as BigQuery, Snowflake, Redshift, and PostgreSQL.
  • Support data validation, troubleshooting, and root cause analysis for reporting and dashboard issues.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to enhance analytics capabilities and improve reporting processes.
  • Participate in code reviews, deployment processes, and version control management using Git.
  • Maintain comprehensive technical documentation for LookML models, dashboards, and reporting solutions.
  • Stay updated with new Looker features, BI technologies, and industry best practices.

Requirements:
  • 5+ years of experience in Business Intelligence, Analytics, or Data Visualization development with at least 3+ years of hands-on experience in Looker.
  • Strong expertise in LookML development, including views, explores, derived tables, parameters, and model configurations.
  • Advanced SQL skills with experience in query optimization and performance tuning.
  • Solid understanding of data warehousing concepts, dimensional modeling, star schema, and snowflake schema design.
  • Experience working with cloud-based data warehouses such as Google BigQuery, Snowflake, Amazon Redshift, or PostgreSQL.
  • Strong knowledge of ETL/ELT processes and data integration concepts.
  • Experience implementing data governance, security, and access control policies within BI environments.
  • Familiarity with Git-based version control and CI/CD deployment practices.
  • Ability to analyze complex business requirements and translate them into scalable BI solutions.
  • Strong problem-solving, analytical, and troubleshooting skills.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management abilities.
  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Data Analytics, Engineering, or a related field.

Preferred Skills:
  • Experience with Google Cloud Platform (GCP) and BigQuery ecosystem.
  • Familiarity with Looker Studio and other BI tools such as Power BI or Tableau.
  • Knowledge of embedded analytics, Looker APIs, and custom application integrations.
