Description
The Logistics Specialist manages daily supply chain operations, organizing the safe, cost-effective, & timely movement of goods from suppliers to customers & internal operations. They track shipments, prepare shipping documents, & solve delivery issues while working with carriers & internal teams. Position is a combination of office & warehouse environments.
Requirements
Role and Responsibilities
· Logistics Oversight: Direct daily transport, paperwork creation, & distribution activities to hit cost and delivery targets.
· Carrier Management: Negotiate freight rates, build contracts, & maintain strong performance relationships with global or domestic shipping partners.
· Compliance & Customs: Oversee import and export documentation, ensuring full compliance with trade laws and safety regulations.
· Process Optimization: Analyze supply chain data to cut waste, lower shipping expenses, & boost delivery speeds.
· Issue Resolution: Troubleshoot transit delays, inventory shortages, or customs blocks swiftly under tight deadlines.
Required skills and abilities
· Strong ability to handle multiple shipments & deadlines at the same time.
· Clear speaking and writing skills for daily vendor and team contact.
· Self-starter, able to work independently.
· Ability to prioritize tasks & communicate and present information to customers, peers, & all levels of management.
· Advanced command of ERP systems & high proficiency in EXCEL, Word, Outlook.
Education and experience
· College degree in supply chain management or business preferred. High School diploma required.
· Minimum 5 years of logistics, customer support, and warehouse operations in a preferred. manufacturing environment.
· Exceptional negotiation, data analysis, problem-solving, & communication skills.
· Forklift certification is helpful.
physical requirements
· May occasionally involve stooping, kneeling, crouching, and constant moving & standing.
·Ability to lift 50 lbs.
Skills Required
