Summary:  

Supports grain merchandising and operations by coordinating daily freight activity, communicating truck and rail schedules, preparing shipment documentation, and helping ensure grain movements are completed efficiently, accurately, and in accordance with customer, carrier, and company requirements.


Essential Duties and Responsibilities:  

  • Coordinates truck, rail, and other grain freight movements as directed by the merchandising team.
  • Communicate daily with carriers, drivers, locations, customers, and internal teams regarding pickup, delivery, loading, and unloading schedules.
  • Maintains trucking schedules and assists with adjusting schedules to meet customer, location, and company needs.
  • Works closely with Grain Merchandisers to support logistics needs tied to grain purchases, sales, and transfers.
  • Assists with monitoring shipment status and follows up on delays, missed appointments, documentation issues, or other service concerns.
  • Helps verify freight rates, carrier information, shipment details, and invoice support documentation.
  • Supports accurate entry and maintenance of logistics information in spreadsheet, accounting, and grain software systems.
  • Provides professional customer service to producers, customers, carriers, and internal employees.
  • Must maintain valid driver’s license and commercial insurability at all times. 
  • Other duties as assigned by management.

Qualifications:

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Education/Experience:

Associate degree or equivalent related experience preferred; or six months to two years related logistics, transportation, agriculture, customer service, or administrative experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience.


Language Ability:

Ability to read and interpret shipment documents, schedules, procedures, customer instructions, and company policies. Ability to communicate effectively with managers, coworkers, customers, carriers, drivers, and location personnel. Bilingual English/Spanish communication skills preferred but not required.


Math Ability:

Ability to calculate basic figures and amounts related to weights, rates, miles, quantities, percentages, and freight charges. Ability to review numbers for accuracy and identify discrepancies.


Reasoning Ability: 

Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.


Computer Skills: 

To perform this job successfully, an individual should have working knowledge of spreadsheets, email, accounting, transportation, and grain software systems.


Certificates and Licenses: 

Must maintain valid driver’s license and commercial insurability at all times. 


Supervisory Responsibilities: 

This job has no supervisory responsibilities.

Skills Required

  • Six months to two years of related logistics, transportation, agriculture, customer service, or administrative experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Associate degree or equivalent related experience
  • Valid driver's license and commercial insurability
  • Ability to read and interpret shipment documents, schedules, procedures, customer instructions, and company policies
  • Ability to communicate effectively with managers, coworkers, customers, carriers, drivers, and location personnel
