What You Will Contribute:
The Logistics Specialist is responsible for executing inbound and outbound transportation activities, ensuring efficient, compliant, and cost-effective movement of goods. This role supports multi-site operations.
Job Duties:
Generate and prepare freight documentation (Packing list, Bill of Ladings, etc)
Assist in the development of systems, procedures and work instructions for the distribution department.
Evaluate and select optimal freight options through rate shopping across carriers to balance cost, service, and delivery timelines.
Schedule, consolidate, and coordinate shipments across multiple locations including domestic and international freight.
Partner with Customer Service, Credit, and Planning to ensure order readiness and validate customer site capabilities.
Ensure compliance with hazardous materials regulations, including lithium battery handling, labeling, and documentation accuracy.
Perform CTPAT Tier III security procedures including seal verification, 7-point inspections, and documentation checks.
Conduct regular dock audits to verify shipment accuracy and escalate discrepancies.
Utilize transportation management systems (TMS) to manage shipment planning and execution.
Identify and lead continuous improvement initiatives to improve efficiency and reduce cost.
Support SQDC (Safety, Quality, Delivery, Cost) performance objectives.
Report security or compliance incidents in accordance with company protocols.
Education and Experience:
High School Degree/GED required; Associate's Degree preferred
3+ years of experience in shipping/receiving or a related field desired
Qualifications:
Experience in logistics, transportation, or supply chain operations.
Knowledge of hazardous materials shipping regulations.
Experience using transportation management systems (TMS).
Intermediate understanding of logistics concepts, planning tools, and software (MRP, WMS, TMS) required
Intermediate proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint required
Strong attention to detail and documentation accuracy.
Preferred: DGD/IATA certification (air required; ocean preferred).
Preferred: Forklift certification.
Preferred: Warehouse operations experience (racking, material handling equipment).
