Logistics Process and Project Supervisor

Mallard Creek Polymers is seeking a qualified Logistics Process and Project Supervisor to join our team.

Who you are: The Logistics Process and Project Supervisor is responsible for leading logistics process improvement initiatives, supply chain systems implementation projects, transportation technology integrations, and selected day-to-day logistics operations across Mallard Creek Polymers. The position ensures the safe, efficient, accurate, and cost-effective movement of materials and finished goods while advancing technology, standardization, visibility, and service performance.

What you do: As a Logistics Supervisor you are responsible for:

Project Leadership and Implementation

• Lead cross-functional supply chain and logistics improvement projects from planning through implementation and stabilization.
• Manage project scope, timelines, priorities, milestones, deliverables, risks, resources, and stakeholder communication.
• Coordinate internal teams, customers, carriers, and external software providers to support successful technology and process implementations.
• Provide regular project status updates, escalate risks, and recommend corrective actions to management.
• Monitor project outcomes and ensure completion of assigned objectives, documentation, training, and adoption activities.

EDI, API, and Logistics Technology Management

• Serve as the logistics subject matter expert for EDI implementation, maintenance, and customer onboarding activities.
• Lead or coordinate API-based customer and carrier integration projects, including automated load tendering and related transportation automation.
• Coordinate business requirements, process mapping, data validation, system testing, user acceptance testing, troubleshooting, deployment, and post-implementation support.
• Collaborate with Information Technology, software providers, customers, carriers, and internal users to resolve integration issues and improve system performance.
• Document workflows and develop standard operating procedures, work instructions, training materials, and process controls for new or revised systems.
• Train employees and support adoption and effective use of logistics technology, ERP, WMS, TMS, EDI, and API-enabled processes.

Logistics Process Improvement and Systems Analysis

• Analyze transportation, customer service, inventory movement, warehouse, and distribution workflows to identify gaps and improvement opportunities.
• Document current-state and future-state processes and translate operational needs into process maps, business requirements, procedures, and system requirements.
• Develop and implement solutions that improve efficiency, accuracy, service, visibility, productivity, safety, and cost performance.
• Use operational metrics and KPI reporting to evaluate performance, identify root causes, and drive corrective and preventive actions.
• Lead process standardization, cost-reduction, and continuous improvement initiatives while maintaining service, quality, and safety expectations.
• Assist in evaluating future logistics technology and automation opportunities.

Team Leadership and Employee Development

• Provide direct supervision, coaching, training, and development for three logistics coordinators and/or project support employees.
• Establish priorities, assign work, balance project and operational requirements, and reinforce accountability, teamwork, safety, and continuous improvement.
• Monitor employee performance and support hiring, onboarding, development planning, performance discussions, and corrective action processes as required.
• Develop team capability in logistics technology, process discipline, customer service, data analysis, and supply chain best practices.
• Foster effective collaboration, conflict resolution, ownership, and change adoption within the team.

Transportation, Distribution, and Fleet Support

• Provide oversight and support for inbound and outbound shipment scheduling, carrier assignments, load planning, routing, and delivery execution.
• Monitor open shipments, freight cost, service performance, fleet utilization, on-time delivery, and transportation risks.
• Support the utilization of company-owned transportation assets and assigned drivers, including applicable documentation and compliance activities.
• Investigate transportation service failures and coordinate corrective actions with carriers, drivers, customers, and internal stakeholders.
• Support safe and accurate receiving, storage, inventory handling, picking, staging, shipping, cycle counting, and movement of finished goods between manufacturing and distribution operations.
• Maintain a visible operational presence as needed to support problem resolution, process adherence, safety, housekeeping, inventory accuracy, and workflow improvement.

Customer Service and Cross-Functional Collaboration

• Partner with Customer Service, Planning, Production, Logistics, and Information Technology to support timely fulfillment of customer orders and successful customer onboarding.
• Perform customer service responsibilities for assigned export customers, including shipment coordination and issue resolution.
• Communicate delays, capacity constraints, project risks, system impacts, and logistics issues to appropriate stakeholders.
• Collaborate with customers, carriers, vendors, and internal teams to improve logistics execution, integration effectiveness, and customer experience.
• Support shipment scheduling and follow through on transportation and delivery performance issues.

What we need:

This position serves as the primary logistics lead for strategic initiatives involving Electronic Data Interchange (EDI), API-based customer integrations, automated load tendering, transportation systems, workflow design, and operational optimization. The role works closely with Customer Service, Planning, Production, Information Technology, customers, carriers, and software providers.

The position provides leadership and direction to three logistics coordinators and/or project support employees. Its primary focus is professional project leadership, systems implementation, process analysis, and continuous improvement, supported by active involvement in transportation execution, distribution activities, customer fulfillment, and operational problem resolution.

Skills and Qualifications:

Required

• Associate degree or higher in Supply Chain Management, Logistics, Engineering Technology, Business, Information Systems, or a related field; equivalent relevant experience may be considered.
• Minimum of five years of experience in supply chain, logistics, transportation, warehousing, distribution, planning, systems implementation, or process improvement roles.
• Minimum of two years of supervisory, lead, or people-management experience.
• Experience leading cross-functional projects and supporting technology or process implementations.
• Experience with EDI transactions, ERP, WMS, TMS, transportation systems, API integrations, or similar supply chain technology platforms.
• Working knowledge of transportation, warehouse, fleet, safety, and applicable compliance requirements.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, decision-making, organizational, communication, and stakeholder-management skills.
• Advanced Microsoft Excel and reporting experience, with the ability to manage multiple priorities in an operational environment.

Preferred

• Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain, Logistics, Business, Engineering Technology, Information Systems, or a related discipline.
• APICS certification or related supply chain credential.
• Experience in manufacturing or chemical-industry supply chains.
• Experience supervising private fleet operations, OTR drivers, distribution center personnel, or logistics coordinators.
• Experience leading EDI, API, transportation software, ERP, WMS, TMS, or logistics automation implementations.
• Lean, Six Sigma, or continuous improvement training and experience.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

• Strong understanding of logistics, transportation, warehousing, distribution, inventory movement, customer fulfillment, and fleet operations.
• Ability to translate operational needs into documented business processes, system requirements, work instructions, and implementation plans.
• Ability to lead projects, manage competing priorities, coordinate cross-functional stakeholders, and deliver measurable results.
• Knowledge of transportation safety, compliance, driver documentation, and operational control requirements.
• Strong analytical skills and the ability to interpret operational metrics, identify root causes, and develop practical solutions.
• Effective coaching, employee-development, conflict-resolution, and change-leadership skills.
• Clear verbal and written communication skills and proficiency with Microsoft Office and supply chain software applications.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

• Position works in office, distribution center, manufacturing, and transportation environments.
• Must be able to safely move through operational areas.
• Communicate with employees, customers, drivers, carriers, vendors, and technical partners, and use standard office and logistics technology.
• Specific physical requirements, travel expectations, work schedule, and required personal protective equipment should be confirmed based on the assigned location and company policy.

Work Location & Hours: Mallard Creek Polymers Plant Morehead Road, Charlotte, NC 28262

Monday - Friday starting at 8:00 am to 5 pm

Travel: Minimal (possibly to other company locations located within the Charlotte area)
