This position ensures that all production units at the site receive all required Logistics services in an efficient and cost-effective manner. This position places equal priorities on safety, quality, and protection of the environment. This position is accountable for long term strategic planning and for meeting the site’s long term Logistics infrastructure goals. This position is also responsible for implementing new technologies and for achieving continuous improvement and serves as an ambassador to the region and the global BU LO group on global projects and initiatives.
Oversees all site logistics operations to ensure safe, efficient, and cost-effective delivery of services to production units, with equal emphasis on safety, quality, and environmental protection. Leads long-term logistics infrastructure planning, continuous improvement, and implementation of new technologies while serving as a key liaison for regional and global supply chain initiatives.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Direct and manage daily logistics operations including rail, truck, barge, container, and warehouse activities.
- Oversee onsite and contract warehouses, regulatory records, logistics equipment, and customer documentation.
- Develop and execute 3–5-year logistics infrastructure and improvement plans, including capital projects.
- Ensure compliance with DOT, FRA, IATA, IMDG, and ISO standards; lead safety, quality, environmental, and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Introduce new technologies and best practices from global sites to the NAFTA region and vice versa.
- Build and lead a high-performing logistics team through hiring, training, performance management, and development.
- Negotiate contracts for packaging, materials, equipment, and services.
- Participate in NAFTA supply chain strategy and improvement teams.
- Manage a $7.8M annual fixed operating budget and capital projects of $1M–$5M annually.
REQUIREMENTS
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering, Business, or Supply Chain/Logistics (advanced degree preferred).
- Minimum 10 years’ experience in manufacturing, logistics, or supply chain (preferably in chemical manufacturing).
- At least 3 years in a supervisory or management role.
- Expertise in continuous improvement and regulatory compliance for hazardous and non-hazardous chemical transport (DOT, FRA, IATA, IMDG, GHS).
- Proficiency with SAP logistics applications.
- Strong leadership, communication, and project management skills with ability to lead cross-functional/global teams.
