SUMMARY

The Logistics Coordinator verifies, documents, receives, packages, and ships incoming and outgoing materials. This position compares shipment information with bills of lading, invoices, purchase orders, and other records; coordinates freight and local transportation; maintains accurate shipping and inventory records; and works across departments to ensure materials move safely, accurately, and on schedule between customers, suppliers, and production facilities.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  • Verify identifying information on incoming and outgoing shipments against bills of lading, invoices, purchase orders, and other applicable records
  • Receive goods from suppliers and unload, inspect, and distribute materials to the appropriate locations
  • Package and ship products in accordance with customer specifications and applicable transportation requirements
  • Build boxes, cartons, crates, and other shipping containers for detail parts and finished products
  • Complete bills of lading, arrange freight-carrier pickups, and coordinate pickups and deliveries with local customers and suppliers
  • Navigate customer websites to obtain advance shipment notifications, barcodes, labels, and shipping documentation
  • Make receiving, inventory, and purchase-order transactions in the company computer system
  • Maintain, retain, and verify accurate shipping, receiving, and inventory records
  • Coordinate with Purchasing, Production, Warehouse, Customer Support, and Engineering personnel regarding the scheduling, packaging, and movement of materials
  • Coordinate material movement among customer, supplier, warehouse, and production facilities
  • Operate forklifts, cranes, scales, trucks, table saws, computers, and miscellaneous hand tools as trained and authorized
  • Drive company vehicles to pick up and deliver materials to customer and supplier locations
  • Follow customer packaging requirements and hazardous-material, interstate-shipping, and international-freight regulations
  • Perform limited preventive maintenance on shipping equipment and company vehicles
  • Maintain a clean, orderly, and safe shipping and receiving area
  • Comply with company policies and procedures, work overtime as required, and perform other duties as assigned
Qualifications

KNOWLEDGE

  • Shipping, receiving, warehousing, inventory-control, and material-handling practices
  • Bills of lading, invoices, purchase orders, advance shipment notifications, shipping labels, and related documentation
  • Customer-specific packaging, labeling, barcode, and shipment-notification requirements
  • Hazardous-material handling requirements and applicable interstate and international shipping regulations
  • Inventory and purchase-order receiving transactions within computerized business systems
  • Safe operation of forklifts, cranes, trucks, scales, table saws, and hand tools
  • Company policies, procedures, housekeeping standards, and basic preventive-maintenance practices

EXPERIENCE AND EDUCATION

  • High school diploma or equivalent required
  • Typically three to five years of related shipping, receiving, logistics, warehouse, or material-control experience
  • Mechanical aptitude and a strong work ethic desired
  • Advanced computer skills, including spreadsheet and word-processing applications
  • Must be able to qualify to operate a standard forklift within 90 days of hire
  • Valid Kansas driver’s license required
  • Must be capable of obtaining a Class B commercial driver’s license if required by the position

 

WORKING CONDITIONS

  • Work is performed in shipping, receiving, warehouse, production, and general shop environments and may include local travel to customer and supplier facilities
  • Prolonged periods of standing, stooping, crouching, bending, and stretching are required
  • Constant repetitive use of the hands, wrists, and arms is required
  • Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds without assistance and more than 50 pounds with assistance
  • Constant exposure to general shop conditions, including machine noise and metal dust
  • Work may involve forklifts, cranes, trucks, saws, hand tools, packaged materials, and hazardous materials
  • Overtime may be required with little or no notice to meet customer and production schedules
  • Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable qualified individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions of the position

 

WORK AUTHORIZATION/SECURITY CLEARANCE

  • Must be legally authorized to work in the United States
  • If a security clearance is required:
    • Candidate must be able to obtain and maintain applicable security clearance requirements
    • Successful candidates must be able to obtain required Program Access approval, if applicable

Skills Required

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Three to five years related shipping, receiving, logistics, warehouse, or material-control experience
  • Advanced computer skills, including spreadsheets and word-processing applications
  • Ability to qualify to operate a standard forklift within 90 days of hire
  • Valid Kansas driver's license

  • Knowledge of hazardous-material handling and interstate/international shipping regulations
